| DTG and Beyond Contacts RAM? I have purchased DataViz Office 6 for use on a TJ25 but have not decided if I want it yet (it was on sale at Staples for $50). How much RAM will this program take? It contains both DTG and Beyond Contacts.
Also, does Beyond Contacts support color coding calendar events? I use Palm Destop on the PC if that makes any difference.

| D2G - Depends on what parts of the program you are going to install, and to add, much of it can be placed on the Memory Stick by following the instructions at the dataviz website. There is also the option of placing items in ROM as well |

| To sync with Beyond Contacts, you will need to use Microsoft Outlook on your desktop rather than Palm Desktop.

If you want to sync with Palm Desktop and are looking for color coding and custom icons, you might want to look at Agendus for Palm and Windows. Both use the built-in Palm datebook, to do, and contacts dB but provide a nicer looking UI.
The DataViz apps are fine if you have a ton of room or a Memory Stick. I've tried to use BeyondContacts but it doesn't support the UX50 display and DataViz shows no signs of doing so. FWIW, I use DTG 5 and have not seen a reason to upgrade to 6 yet. I have a minimal install with only Word to Go and Sheet to Go installed. |

| I have DTG5 and I installed all applications (~2.5MB). I can not believe DTG6 would take less. After I get all my Word, Excel, PPT, pictures I typically run at 4-5MB.
Open your MS Gate to verify how much you are using. |

| mochant,
Thanks for input. I got the trial version of Agendus but couldn't see that it color coded the calendar (7 day view with different colors for various types of appointments).
depret,
Thanks for the RAM useage numbers.

| The application files of Beyond Contacts alone need 1,6 MB. It also needs seperate databases for all the records, as it does not use the files already integrated in the Palm OS. With about 600 contacts and numerous other elements, I needed about 2,5 MB of RAM for BC.
It is not adviseable to put the BC files on MS, as you can't switch the folders within the application, e.g. from contacts to datebook.
BC does support different colors for the datebook elements.
I actually switched to KeySuite from Chapura as it offers a better customization of your synchronisation with Outlook. It also offers you some journal function you dont have within BC.

Mobile PC Feb 2004 page 50 story "DataViz Documents To Go Premium Edition 6.0".
"Handheld system requirements: Palm OS 3.5 or higher; 3.5 MB of memory, plus additional memory to store documents".
Just read it last night and remember you hand asked. |

If you are using a Memory Stick and JackFlash it will take up much less RAM than that. |
