| its just a tad bit thicker than the charger.
if you really wanted to measure it then youd do a water displacement test but i dont want to submerse my battery into water.
lol

It looks worse than it actually is - the UX50 and EB40 together weigh 9 oz, just one ounce more than the NX80 and one ounce less than the NZ90.
And, obviously, you don't have to take the EB40 everywhere with you .. but it's great when you're going to spend an hour or two watching movies.

| I just ordered the EB40 for my UX50 this week and should get it tomorrow. Hope it's worth it to carry around THAT brick with me all day!

| I am also considering this extended battery and wondering about size so do let us all know your thoughts. As it is now, I would think twice about recommending the ux50 because of the battery life. |

| I also have EB40, and it's just fine. it's only around 2mm thicker then UX50 + EB40. and the EB40 is worth every penny. now I don't need to worry about the UX50 battery life any more. and funny thing is, I can type better when the battery is on my UX50. now it's so far then if I'm at home I attach craddle to my UX50 :-)) |

I know you weren't talking to me, but since I have the EB40 I might as well throw my 2p worth into the ring ;-)
I take the EB wherever I take the UX - it really isn't that bad. True, it does make the unit quite a bit thicker, but it doesn't make it impractical to carry around. It fits into my jacket pocket with no problems - you know it's there, but it's not so heavy that you can't forget that it's there.
As for battery life - today I've listened to an hour of MP3s, watched an hour of video at full brightness, had a couple of alarms go off, used the PIM stuff off and on through the morning and I have 90% battery power left. Tonight I'll listen to another hour of MP3s on the way home and I expect I'll still have 88% power left when I get home.
IMO, the EB is a "must have" if you watch a lot of videos, or use the WLAN a lot, or you need to go a week between charges, but it's probably overkill for anybody who uses the addressbook a couple of times a day.
Horses for courses.
