| NZ Japanese version Ohayo Gozaimas US,
Since you guys are experts, I do address you the following question. I'm in Tokyo and the NZ90 is just out since a week or so. But of course it is the Japanese version... 72000.- yen
Does anybody know if it is possible to update the OS5 to English version somehow? I'm just a lamer, no clue if these files are stored in ROM or RAM, etc, so be mercyful.
In general the Japanese versions are about half price of the English ones here.
Cheers,
hps |

| Thanks Eric, but I don't want to buy until I'm not sure.
I found the following link, might be useful, but I'm not sure. Does anybody had this experience already? http://www.gradiusnet.com/gradius/clie/index.htm
Any thoughts are appriciated.

The FlashOS is a modification of the JackSprat program...
Not exist JackSprat for NX yet... and I think the NZ support comes few months after the NX support be released...
I don't know any other way for change the ROM...

| Thanks, so probably it takes some time to get the NX / NZ version....
Sorry about your wife's slots.... maybe time will solve that issue as well if you keep using your stick. |

| I also live in Japan and got the NZ90 version in Japanese yesterday. You cannot switch it over.
BUT-you can buy the English version of the NZ90 which is the import from the US in akihabara Laox on like the 8th floor and for around the same price. All the PDAs there are in English only.
Do not buy the Japanese version and try to switch it-you will muck the thing up big time. Laox is the answer and if they do not have it they will order it.
Need directions then let me know and I will post them for you. |

Japanese version is a bargain compared to US price, but without English, it is pretty much useless (unless you happen to know Japanese ) |

| just wondering...if I were to buy the english version here in tokyo...will the english-drivers work with the local/CF cards? (ie, Air "H", etc...)
On another note...if you bought the English TungstenTT from Ikeshop (either online or from the Akihabara shop), they are offering a free Jap/OS download to convert the OS..mmm I wonder if they got one of those for the JapNZ OS??? |

| Okay-I tried to convert the NR to English-aah what a mess-the site I tried was http://dlam.org/palm.html
Take a look you may find something.
The LAOX shop in Akihabara will be no cheaper than the US. Did I say it was cheaper-sorry; but the NZ is going to be 800+ no matter what.
The LAOX shop is close ot the station. Walk out the ticket gate and turn right, then walk to the left up the road to the main intersection and cross the road and there is the LAOX shop.
I hope this helps.
Even though I am not Japanese I have used Japanese Windows since 95 and now use Japanese XP and so the palm OS in Japanese is a breeze.
The Wifi drivers that come with the NZ are in English and Japanese on the CD and work fine in either language so I loaded the English drivers.
The Wifi card will work in either country-oh the beauty of Wifi and make sure you only get the Sony card; some of the others will not work properly.
Hope this helps as well. |

| so is LAOX where you ended up buying the NZ?
(how much they charging$$? I cant find anyone selling one on discount...Ikeshop has a deal that they will give you a free USB-bluetooth dongle, and upgrade to 32meg card tho...)
I still dunno if i want the english version or just stick with the japanese-version...i played with the card reader at Bic today and since i do use the SUICA, i found it nifty and useful.
mmm decisions, decisions...that and the fact that I still gotta do a whole song and dance before it will even sync with my OSX/mac.
...for the love of clie |

| No I brought my NZ directly from Sony on line.
Why? Well service is a little better; I got a leather case and also a memory stick will come with it once I send in the registration tomorrow.
Yeah syncying with a Mac-go for it, I will be thinking of you as you go through that. |
