#1 | | Guest | TG50 or NX70? I've been waiting far too long to upgrade my old handspring platinum, and now that I'm finally getting down to it, I find that the TG50 and NX70 are the same price in Canada (NX70 is cheaper at some stores). The thing is, I don't really need most of the features of either machine. I'm interested in having a keyboard, palm os, small form factor and the basics. I don't need bluetooth in the TG50, but the NX70 is quite a bit bigger.
The NX70 just seems to be more bang for my buck (and cheaper) is there anything more useful on the NX70? I'd use the device for working on spreadsheets mainly. | |

| I'd go for the nx70. The screen is quite a bit bigger and much nicer looking in my opinion. I am very displeased with the quality of the screen on the tg50. The screen seems washed out in my opinion and not nearly as sharp in texture or color as the other clie models. The screen on my sj33 was a lot better.
Anyhow, if your main use for the clie will be viewing and editing spreadsheets, I'd go with the nx70 because of the larger screen. |

| I completely agree. If you can live without the keyboard, then the NX70 is certainly the way to go. I had one before my current Tungsten C. (I broke my NX). The extra screen real estate is so nice; you'll love it. Working with documents, whether Word, Excel, or ebook is so much better on the NX than on the standard smaller Palm OS screen. |

| I disagree with Imperitas on the quality of the screen of the TG50, but if I were you I would look at them both side by side for yourself.
I prefer the TG50 mostly because of size, but if you do get a TG50, I would highly recommend getting a clear flip cover, so it is immediately usable.
I don't like the clamshell design of the NR/NX/NZ series and they seem so bulky compared to the T/TG series.
If you really like using Graffiti, it will take a day to get use to the keyboard, but it's really worth it. There are free options to enter graffiti directly on the screen as well. (I don't really like the Virtual Graffiti built-in)
I do agree that for spreadsheets, the NX70 would be the better choice. |

| Yeah, look at them both and try downloading LCD Analyzer onto them, you'll clearly see that the TG50 has a richer and sharper screen. In my opinion, the text quality test was a bit blurry on the nx70v. The tg50's screen is newer and brighter than the nx70v. Imper, if you actually compared them both, you would see what you were saying was actually backwards. The nx80v's screen is better than both though. |

| TG50 is the way to go!!! --- Fits much better in your pocket, better screen, and great battery life compared to NX70.

| This is a question that I still ask myself sometimes. Should I have gotten an NX70 instead of my current TG50? When I think about it, there are pros and cons for both. The NX70 has larger screen, a compact flash slot, a wireless LAN card that's been released, and if I'm not mistaken, more usable internal memory. However, I've heard that the battery life on the NX70 is not the greatest (compared to the TG50, though I don't know from experience) and, the NX70 is apparently quite bulky in size.
I currently have a TG50 and am fairly happy with it. It gives me the size of an average PDA, but a keyboard like that found on the NR/X/Z series. The main factor that would make me want to buy an NX70 over my TG50 is the Compact Flash slot. If you'd find a compact flash slot useful (although you'll need to purchase additional software to use it for data), then perhaps the NX70 could be of use to you. I really wish that I could use my Compact Flash cards on my TG50 lol. But, I have two 128 MB memory sticks. So, it's not that bad.

| I'd get the NX73V the european one then you get:
- All the power of the NX70
- Bluetooth
- A backlit keyboard
- A digital camera
- And a bright screen that's bigger than the TG50's
^but that's just my opinion of course
Oh and by the way don't let them fool you with the size...I don't have very big hands and it's not HUGE like everyone says it is(NX80v if there is any difference between dimensions of the 80 and 70 I'd say the 80 is bigger)
I held(sp?) my nx80 up next to my sj33 and it was only an inch bigger(inch at most) and not any thicker and the SJ33 I think is pretty small.
