| HOW MANY of you are still SONY Fans ? I was just wondering How many of you guys are still loyal to SONY after the TJ35 case and how many of you think that the recall and the problems with the TJ will not affect your love for Sony products ?
How much do you think a Recall like that plays a role in a Company like SONY and its Customer loyalty?
What about the Support, will all the problems with this TJ 35 will make Sony Customer Support Better or even Worse ;( ???

| My impression of Sony hasn't really be negatively affected by this, despite the disappoint and inconvenience of being without my PDA for nearly a month. I think Sony is handling this as well or better than most companies it's size would. Plus, this case is the exception, not the rule, with Sony. Sony has provided quality products and excellent customer support in the past. This was a mess up, to be sure...but no more so than any other company would experience. I've seen far worse problems with auto companies, software companies, and even a medical device supplier (insulin pump in my case).
I do think it will affect people's impression of Sony...particularly if this is their first Sony product. People in America are just too quick to judge something without consideration of all the facts. :-/

| I would have to agree with what you wrote. People in US are sometimes so addicted to phrases like "Customer Support" and "Quality of Products" that they tend to forget all the Good things about a company and their previous milestones in a flash. To be honest I became more of a fan for SONY after the BACKLIGHT problem ... Again Its not nice to live without the presiossssssss Clie but again **** happens.

| I am still a fan. I am not happy that I need to send my 35 to them as it is affected by the recall, I even considered dropping it and getting the next model up per my extended warranty, but I cannot bring myself to be that dishonest. I will ship off my 35 shortly and be without it for a good chunk of time. I think that they are handling it well and I just wish that they had a local trade out program.

#5 | | Guest | Still happy and loyal Despite the fact that the recall was announced the day after I bought my TJ35, I have NEVER had problems getting anything repaired or replaced by Sony. ALL of my hi-tech toys are Sony and I won't switch just because of one small problem.
My calls to them have been handled very professionaly in this issue and I think that those people who were unfortunate to be the first into the fire just got the brunt of confusion and holiday madness from Sony not being sure how to handle such a major recall.
I'm sending mine in this week (just got the confirmation that the boxes are being shipped to me) and although am truly sad to be without my Clie over the holidays I am trusting that I will be doubly happy when I get it back.

#6 | | Guest | I'm going to be twice bit i.e I'd already returned mine
before (before the recall). Now, I'm waiting for the return
box. At least I don't have to pay the 2nd time around.
As consolation, I scored a SJ22 for about $100 after rebate,
so I don't have to wait without a clie as standby.

| I guess I do not qualify for a sony fan as of yet, but my opinion is that this backlight issue is not an extraordinary error, and Sony has handled the case relatively well. If sony comes up with a good product in my next purchase cycle, I will not blacklist them because of this issue. |

| I'll be a Sony fanatic if customers who experienced the backlight problem would get a FREE screen protector (or something similar) in addition to the free repair.
Now, THAT's customer loyalty. |

| I still believe that SONY products are great. Probability theory suggests that sooner or later something can and will go wrong with a new product.
What I found very disapointing in this case was the way their "support" line handled the issue.

| I lost all my faith in Palm after my Tungsten E started to scratch up....and my fellow Palm users were all like "but it's ok, it's still a great PDA for your money" Yeah, but is this this quality I get for paying US $200? That's a lot of money you know for a crappy product.....Palm users are so brainwashed into supporting Palm
Oh, back on topic, I lost faith in Sony ever since the Sony Discman.....when first released, it had NO anti-shock memory and kept skipping. The motor strength was so horrible, it took 10 seconds just to skip songs. Compare this to Panasonic CD players, it had a strong motor and barely skipped one bit due to better construction.
Sony's only good product was Trinitron in TV's, in my opinion. Blows away the competition. |
