| Move the movie files to your PC like you move your picture files. On the PC, rename the file extension on each movie from .mqv to .mov. You will need to use the free or commercial version of Apple's Quicktime Player to view the movies on your PC.

| so you just rename the extension?? no need for any real conversion?
heh that reminds me of what my IT teacher said about putting MP3s in Premiere 5.1 projects, just rename them to .mpg. And it works!

#5 | | Guest | easy fix I view this site all the time and something that works for me is to associate the mqv file with the quicktime program and select always use this program for this file type. In the future the quicktime program will open the mqv file without the need to change the mov to mqv. | |

| I'm with Jimmy . . . that's what I did, and I don't have to change a thing.
Just make sure you've got the newest Quicktime!

| well if you saved it in the MS stick, you probably did what Jimmy said - saved it in quicktime format. In the Clie, movies are stored as MPEG4 files as opposed to the MPEG1 files that we normally use. MPEG4s are highly compressed as compared to a MPEG1, thats why it takes lesser space on the Memory Stick/Clie. This (the compression) happens when you use Image converter to load movies to your MS. Using the latest version of Quicktime should help viewing them without any problem of renaming or whatever. There might be some setting in quicktime which is not letting you view it. Try viewing it without changing the extension. If it doesnt work then you might need some commercially (free too if you can get it ) available software to convert it to a MPEG1
P.S. - i think on the Clie MAI files are the MPEG4s but I'm not too sure ...

| MAI files are just the thumbnail images you see in the movie player basicly.
The MQV files are located in a different spot on the MS at /MQ_ROOT/100MQV01

| I'm not too sure but I think that the resolution for MPEGs is determined when you create them. I know JPEGs can be changed (I've dont that ). But when you record an MPEG, it records at a certain resolution... so again I'm not sure but I dont think you can change the resolution after youve taken the movie

| ok I goofed up a bit .. it seems it is possible to change the resolution of an MPEG ... I googled it and found that there is a tool called TMPGenc which does that ... this is the first time that I have heard about it so I really dont know ... tell you what - google it and you might just get more lucky and find exactly what ur looking for !!!
