| Im getting a TH-95 Got you there with that title, didn't I?
Seriously though, I am getting an iPod Touch this Christmas, and after putting alot of thought into this decision, I believe it to be the right one.
Lets take a look at some of its features:
Can play back music and movies, with fair battery life (22 audio, 5 video)
Has been hacked to run third party apps, listed below
GBA Emulator
ScummVM emulator
PSX emulator
NES emulator
Mail applications
Solitaire, Sudoku
At some point it will have both open and closed software development, with software companies releasing Apple signed software, but independent devs writing software that will run on jail broken iPhones.
Its also the first device ive seen in a while that looks as slick as the TH-55.
What do the masses think?

| I am a victim of your title...
Comparing the looks of the TH and the iPod Touch, yes, it really is the gadget on the market that looks most like a TH. Funny how so many people go around the web shouting how everyone is ripping off Apple's designs, while no one is shouting that Apple ripped off the TH design. In my opinion, if you want to make it simplistic and glossy, it's got to look like a TH, so no rip off there. Although I still like the metal bezel over the all plastic iPod front.
By the way, the multi-touch interface also feels very like that of Piscel viewer, don't you think?
I can't comment on the functionality part because I have only played with ones at the Apple store. But if you do get one eventually, please do post your thoughts here on 1src. It's always interesting to see the thoughts on the "mobile OS X" from a previous Clie user's point of view. |

| Ill probably write a full review when I get it. You can be guaranteed it will be jailbroken the second I feel I can do it without bricking it, and ill have lots of fun stuff installed...GBA emulator...hah. I hope I start to see Dmitryware on the Touch soon. A palm emulator would be the absolute coolest thing...

| The title got me and I was thinking it's one of those helicopters again!
Good luck and I hope to read your review soon. Why don't you and DanT talk and merge reviews? That way, we'd get an iPod touch and iPhone overview for those of us who are still not switching. |

| I too thought it was Th55 lol, well you'll love the iPod touch. Its a great device and its very handy when its jailbroken. The GBA emulator is lil choppy and but its good for slow games like Strategy and rpg games. I can't wait to see what the dev team will produce when the sdk comes out.
Edit: Also love the touch for its safari and how many are making custom webpages for the iPod/iPhone. Especially love how google page looks now with the tabs at top

| Yes, you got me with the title.
I'm still amazed with the iPhone, eventhough I got kicked on the rear by Steve when I upgraded it v.1.1.2, which wiped out my cool jail-broken setup. I almost slammed it to the ground, stumped it with my shoe heel, and tossed it to the trash, when that happened. Luckily my good-old TH55 saved my bacon then.
The Mail opens YouTube, Word, and jpg attachments. YouTube works fine with WiFi off. That is cool.
The phone works just fine overseas. SMS is a breeze.
2MP camera works great. My DSC-T33 actually ran out of battery at one time so I had to rely on my iPhone's camera.
Let's see, what else? Oh, I still can use it up in the air with Airplane Mode on. Calendar syncs nicely with my Outlook.
Maps is way cool. I checked my neighbor's pool from the sky.
Someone in the airport during transit was wondering how cold would it be when he arrived in Boston, I just checked quickly with the iPhone Weather and told him 35F and mentioned my homebound (Houston) was 73F, just to rub it in.
I still haven't got to iTunes, yet. I'll save it for later. Can't wait till February to see how unleashing the 3rd party app restriction turns out.

| Yeah Dan...I expect Apple will be smart enough to allow pretty much everyone outside of the emulator coders to have their apps signed. And only them because Apple cant legally allow them. There will always be a place for jailbreaks...you can bet though there will be some pretty sweet third party apps when the commercial ones start popping up.

| Finally an ATT store is here and was able to try the iPhone and it feels very nice. There is such a thing as too thin and the iPod touch made me realize that. I love the size and feel of the iPhone. It is tempting to get ;_;. I believe I can't hold out until my Sprint Contract expires.

| Yet another victim to the title!
Anyway, I'm also wondering which device to buy. Please help me decide on this, my dear and trusted friends:
This past Saturday I sold my HTC touch hoping to get my hands on an iPhone. Unfortunately, retail units cannot be unlocked as of this writing and phones on the black market have asking prices as high as $ 1,200 USD locally -mainly because demand is outrunning supply. Needless to say, right now I'm back to the basics with a TT3 and a very old Nokia phone.
Since the iPhone is out of the question, I was wondering how capable as a PDA-replacement the iPod Touch is. I need the device to meet the following criteria: - PIM apps for contacts, datebook and todos
- PDF doc viewer
- Occasional Office document viewing
- Password and account data vault (SplashID-like)
- Some expense manager (PocketQuicken but can settle for less)
- A drawing app like MoePaint or PixMarker
- Some multi-lingual dictionaries
- Unit converters
- A Memo-like app
- And if possible, I want to carry my Flash-enabled website portfolio with me
My option list so far includes the iPod Touch and getting another HTC Touch but am open to other options. Any opinions/ suggestions?

My iPhone Calendar does that.

| The iPod Touch has a beep speaker, only the iPhone can give you multitonal audio alerts. The iPod touch isnt the perfect PDA replacement yet, but I imagine in time it will get alot better.
