| feel kinda dumb.....but maybe I'm not the only one I have been trying since I got my clie to figure out how to use the shortcuts when entering text. I have tried every slash command I can think of and I'm just about ready to give up. Can some one tell me please how to use these shortcuts? |

| Input the Shortcut character - it is a cursive L, and shows up on the screen as such. Then, enter the letters corresponding to the shortcut, and the whole thing will be automatically replaced by the text of the shortcut.

| Here is anything you need to know about Shortcuts.
Also check your Graffiti Help menu to see how to stroke the shortcut character. You can have this Graffiti Help popup on the screen by swiping your stylus from graffiti area to the screen. If not, you can set it up by going to Prefs, Buttons, Pen..., Graffiti Help. You can also see what shortcuts that are already stored in your Clie by going to Prefs, Shortcuts. Reading the manual helps too.
I use it with another secret character to type a 30-character long password for unlocking my Clie's System Lockout screen. So no on-looker would be able to capture that password as the 30 characters zipping across the screen.

| Not if you do it fast and keep wiggling your stylus (w/o touching the graffiti pad) while the characters zipping across as if you have very fast graffiti writing skill (one way to impress newbies).

| We just didn't understand what you're talking about. I thought you've a little too much to drink until I realized that you are still a kid. Just forget what I said. May be I'm just too old to understand new kind of English being used by kids nowadays.

| He probably meant the action the PDA takes when you run your stylus from the bottom of the screen to the top. I have it set up so that the screen's brightness changes.

I get it now. You use the graffiti to display swipe for launching your on-screen keyboard. You need to activate your spell checker.
Why would you do that if there are already two buttons for it are already there in the graffiti area, you know, the "a" and "1" on the bottom corner of the graffiti area?

| Yeah I figured it out. I had been through the graffiti help about five times looking for the input character to activate the shortcut, but couldn't find it. That is until reading the replies I recieved. Then I went back through and noticed it on the second page....maybe glasses are sooner in my future than I thought. Anyway thanx everyone for all the responses, note entering just got a lot faster. |
