You got plenty Z launcher Skins Here

| Hey, couple of related questions while I'm thinking about it:
1) So why do you think Sony singled out CLIEDemo, PhotoEditor and RemoteCam to go on the Internal Media instead?
2) Does Zlauncher have a method for removing folders/directories? I deleted the ClieDemo files but not sure how to get rid of the directory itself...
Edit: Nevermind on the second one. I figured out how to do it in Zlauncher (Click on the folder itself to select and highlight, then use delete feature).

Good thread btw! |
Warfare Inc. works on my UX. I put the following 3 files:
Warfare Incorporated.prc
htdata824.pdb
HTSFX.pdb
to /Palm/Programs/AliasExt/ and it works for me.
Just a side note, those Astraware games with music databases can also load from MemoryStick/Internal Media. |

| I'm sorry if this is a very basic question that has been answered before... What is the difference between doing this AliasExt thing and putting .prc program files in the /Palm/Launcher folder? For as long as I've owned Clies (since 760C), I've just been putting whatever apps I could into the /Palm/Launcher folder and never really got into the usage of PowerRun.
Is this AliasExt workaround meant only for programs you can't run from the /Palm/Launcher folder on either the MS or internal memory? Or is it better somehow than putting programs in /Palm/Launcher? |

| With aliasext, pdb files are managed, which isn't the case with /launcher/
IMHO, Aliasext is the best way for external app storage as it's a built in function made by sony |

| I can install programs directly to /Palm/Launcher during a hotsync. Anyone know if hotsync will put programs in /Palm/Programs/AliasExt? |

Although I am not so sure about it, I don't think you can hotsync to that folder. I've read somewhere before that you might be able to use DataImport to gain access to the internal vms, yet I haven't tried that nor can I confirm that it's possible. I just copy over to a designated folder in MS, then use McFile & copy the file from MS over to AliasExt folder.
PS. c0mm0n, I've tried to put ZLauncher in AliasExt folder, it seems to have a few soft-resets every once in a while, have you tried it? Also since ZLauncher is always running, I think it should be put back into RAM, because putting it in vms will have slower launch up, with the "waiting..." msg on the screen, also it seems to drain battery much faster. Just from my experience playing around with it today. Any ideas or suggestions?

As mentioned by another member, this method isn't documented, I think Sony might prefer to save themselves some work at customer service/ support department.

| -> Eddy, no i haven't try this and for the reasons u've given won't try it ; i dont want to get rid off all my apps ram but since i find the aliasext to be very good in managing files i've used it for most of my apps, especially the big ones indeed and all the games. |

| While the apps can go to Aliaext, what about the .pdp files? Can/should they go there too, or should they stay/go to launcher? |

| So this works with user created subdirs in aliasext? Soft reset, and the UX will find them? |
