| Screen orientation & T3 So my mate has just been round showing off his new Palm T3.
Have to say, I didn't think much of it.
eg..
>Washed out screen colors
>Flimsy / wobbly chasis when slide open
the one thing I did like was the ability to flip the screen over from portrait to landscape.
Opened a docs to go exel file, flipped the screen and it actually looked like a usable spreadsheet !
When might we get this on our NX clies? anyone know if anybody out there is working on it?
cheers

| The rotatable screen rotations seems to be a feature of the newer Palm OS 5.2.1. e.g. The UX-series and T3.

| The UX is always in landscape mode; T3 has a "button" for rotating the screen. However, the apps must be written correctly to do the rotation and support 320x480 or 480x320, so even if the OS supports it, the app developers all need to update their apps to do it properly.
Anyway, I have a T3 for testing of our Palm apps and while it is cool, I agree that the screen isn't very bright and the screen size/orientation only works on a few apps and it doesn't work all that great (the system seems to get confused about what orientation to use sometimes).
The app developers need some time to get their apps working correctly.
For me, the NX series continue to be the best PDAs. |

| I am still getting one and it should be here early in the week. Sorry, Sony has too many limitations for my needs. I agree the NX80 would be one heck of a PDA if Sony would release the API's!
I have other power user(also Clie owners) friends tell me the T3 is really nice? A couple are prominent CS Memebers.
As a side note: I have to run my NX80 at 1% and at times is still way to bright.

| I've just got news that Palm will release 2 update prcs that will allow most apps that follows the Palm APIs to function with HiRes+ and Rotate!

| No, but the more I dig into Palm, the more I realize that I am missing a lot!
The post above was a quote from another thread here in CS by another member who is in betea testing.

#11 | | Guest | Sony NW-MS9 Newbie here -
Can someone please advise as to what kind of memory sticks i can use for my Sony NW-MS9? I only have the standard MagicGate 128MB stick, and it is very limiting. If there was a way round not having to convert the mp3s I already have to ATRAC to play on the MS9, that would be great too, but I haven't heard of a way as yet.
Has anyone tried using a 'normal' memory stick in the NW-MS9 with success? If so, how?
Thanks in advance. | |

| I found the use of landscape for spreadsheets on the T3 to be harder than my Sony. Why? No keyboard. My billing spreadsheet has a column to the right for quantities. Enter and it adds and updates the prices. I can't shrink the first column of descriptions very much either. Problem I had was that I had to toggle the DIA back and forth every time AND when i toggled it back it would slide the spreadsheet over hiding the first column. Add another tap! With my Sony, I could hide everything but the decription and quantity columns and use the keyboard or the VGA. Def. not as pretty , but slightly more functional.
Plus I really didn't care for the operation of the slider. very harsh and klunky. Still a nice unit, just not for me...

| I think the reason people are so harsh on the T3 is they are bitter that Sony didn't come up with it. Is it a perfect handheld, no, does it meet everyone's needs, no. Is it a small, light, hi-res+ PDA with quite a bit of innovation and gobs of horsepower and RAM, you bet. Sony is no longer the only innovator out there, in fact, I'd venture to say that Palm is doing a better job responding to the needs of the market over Sony.
I came to the conclusion that the T3 meets my needs better than my NX70, so I made the switch.
