| Can't WiFi HotSync UX50 The following settings on both the desktop and the UX50 do not result in being able to HotSync --- Any ideas??? (I *can* usb HotSync OK and I *can* connect wirelessly to browse the net)
Desktop:
Local USB + Network = checked
Setup->Network->name = checked
Setup->Network->TCP/IP Settings->Primary PC Address = the PC hosting HotSych (c:\ipconfig = the same address)
Subnet (optional) = 255.255.255.0 / blank no difference
UX50:
HotSync->Modem selected displaying Wireless LAN
Prefs->Modem Sync Prefs= Network
Prefs->LANSync Prefs = LANSync
Prefs->Primary PC Setup:
name= !! or blank same results
Primary PC Address = matches desktop settin
Subnet Mask = matches desktop settings
Symptoms:
- Select hotsync icon it connects to my LinkSys WiFi router, where the PC is directly wired
- it connects to the router right away
- "Connecting with the desktop using Wireless LAN" times out with "connection .... could not be established"
I do notice the desktop network icon flashing, as if the UX50 is calling on HotSync, but the HotSync app is not triggered!? |

| What OS are you using and do you have Windows XP ICF firewall enabled?
Also do I understand correctly, also to verify, that your Clie connects okay to the internet?

| Using XP and firewall *not* enabled
Yes...no problem connecting to internet/mail
Clicking hotsync on the UX does caus the desktop network icon to flash in an attempt to trigger the HotSyny app, but no dice. |

| I want to know that all data (except !! in PC name) in your hotsync settings are inputed manually or provided by hostync automatically? If that's inputed by you, try to clear all settings and do a local hotsync to let hotsync add those settings for you.
And you said you have a LinkSys wifi router and PC is directly wired. How's your network? Cable/DSL modem -> LinkSys? And your PC has only 1 ethernet adapter (including wire/wireless, except 1394)?
Pls try to list all details in "ipconfig /all" to let us know more about your case. |

| I guess I'm not sure what you mean by "provided by hotsync automatically". I deleted the WiFi entries, did a USB hotsync (local) and nothing was added under modem. Under Wireless LAN Setup, all I have is Auto Connect showing. Nothing provided on the wireless side as a result of the local hotsync. BTW I have a Cable/DSL mode->LinkSys. 1 ethernet adapter. I have another PC that uses the LinkSys wirelessly (not used to HotSync at all).
Here's IPCONFIG /ALL:
Windows IP Configuration

| Things going from bad to worse. I recreated the WiFi connection on the UX50, and now when I connect via NetFront I get a "There is an IP address conflict with another system on the network" message on the primary PC!? Wierd. |

#8 | | Guest | I may have found the answer on the Sony site doing a troubleshooting search. They say you cannot have "Internet File Sharing" enabled on the PC. I don't recall setting this, but it only concerns dialup and VPN connections. I *do* have a VPN connection option, so maybe that enabled sharing by default. I must check this when I get back home. | |

| Didn't work. I just de-installed the Palm desktop and re-installed it. No change. It simply won't WiFi HotSync. All of the settings are correct. I can USB hotsync. I can WiFi the internet, do mail, but NOT sync. Bummer. |

| I no longer have an "IP conflict" with the primary PC (configured wrong on the UX50); however, this thing simply will not trigger a HotSync wirelessly. The UX50 is calling on the PC, as I can see network activity on the PC when I try to hotsync on the UX50. SmbMate won't work either, which may be for the same reason I can't HotSync. |

| Okay, in several cases in the past, a couple of users had to check modem in the HotSync Manager in the PC's system try Icon for it to work, why I can't give you an answer. In fact, checkk them all, it won't here to do it for now.
If that doesn't work, then I need a complete listing of the settings in the HotSync app's pull down menu of your UX50!

| Nah...checking modem doesn't work. It's important to note:
1. no problem surfing the net from the UX50
2. doing WiFi HotSync touches the PC (network activity in tray network icon on the PC), but doesn't trigger the HotSync app.
As requested:
UX50
Modem Sync Prefs = Network
LANSync Prefs = Network
Primary PC Setup =
Name = !!
Address = primary PC IP = ipconfig value on PC
Subnet Mask = blank = same on PC
Remember clue = network activity on PC doing hotsync from UX. |
