#1 | | Guest | streaming video from UX-50 via wi-fi to desktop comp I read this in cliedeveloper.com and looks like they want to realize this.
What do you guys think ?
UX-50 will become powerfull device.. no need to buy x-10 camera anymore hahahaha
-------------------------------------------------------
Anybody thought about this ?
UX-50 as remote camera device ?
So we can put this UX-50 in other room, and then streaming the video/sound via wi-fi to desktop computer.
How about this idea ? hands up / hands down ?
I think ppl will like it and it will increase ux-50 sales.

| I have wanted to be able to use my Clie as a webcam for a long time. I know many others here have also.
I seem to remember someone posting claiming that they had thier unit working as a webcam in the cradle, but we never heard anything else of it. |

| Check out Fireproducer: Quote:
FireProducer Desktop is a Windows application that delivers a single stream of live or stored video to multiple PalmOS handheld devices simultaneously. To use FireProducer, simply run the installer on any Win32 desktop or server hardware with a fixed IP address, launch FireProducer, and select a video file or capture card. You're now publishing a video stream globally to any FireViewer-equipped Palm device. It's really that simple.
FireProducer Desktop is designed for small-scale video publishing applications such as personal webcams, small websites, or small business applications. It is identical to FireProducer Enterprise except that it can deliver only one video source at a time, to as many receivers as you wish. |

| Fireproducer/viewer looks cool, but didn't work on my UX50. I wish it did.
1. Viewer didn't display maps or streaming video clearly. Perhaps an issue with the landscape mode. The menu system was clearly displayed, but when trying to view a life video feed, or maps, the images were distored. You could see it was playing and the functions worked, but couldn't make heads, or tails of the image.
2. I hooked up several USB cameras and the Fireproducer didn't work with any of them. Two logitech, one Intel. It complained about the video size and colors.
As for using the Clie as a remote camera. I would think if there's an app that can keep snapping pix and overwrite the previous file, you could use a PalmOS web server program to serve the images up. From there it's just a matter of your computer pulling the image from your device with it's static IP address. If there's a web server for PalmOS that will do server push...even better, but I don't think that's available.
Now I just need to purchase the DCR-TRV80 camcorder to employ the RemoteCam function. |

| or you could make a macro (saw a palm macro program posted a few days ago) that snaps pic's every x seconds / mins and then e-mails them, then make an e-mail rule that saves the attachment into a web directory. that would also work, all be it a long silly way. |

| Hey guys, has anyone tried using Fun Cam on the UX? This isn't streaming video, but it will allow you to use the UX as a web cam...
