| Learn C++.
Then go to the palm developer site and get codewarrior for Palm. Everything you need is there. |

| Try SuperWaba www.superwaba.org
It's free. It's Java.
...But we must wait for middle February to a OS5 version. Meanwhile, load the Kits, check the docs. |

| Yes, I've used the first edition of the PalmOS Programming Bible and found it very useful. The additions to the 2nd edition look good.
I also liked Palm Programming from SAMS by Glen Bachmann.
Good luck with it. It can be tricky to get a handle on.

| Not precisely what you're looking for, but helpful... Check out http://www.palmopensource.com -- not much (if any) is OS5 specific, but there are a TON of resources there. I learn by example, so for me it's the best approach... and it covers the range of languages and platforms, some Waba, some C, some C++.
Good luck!

| The only downside to the PalmOS Bible is that it doesn't go into anything Clie-specific except for the Jogwheel. Not that any other programming books do either.
Really, once you get your feet wet, you really only need the SDKs. The SDKs include guides that are usable, though the programming books tend to do more handholding to teach you the basic concepts first. If you're the kind of programmer that just wants the function calls, you'll figure out how to use them, then the SDKs contain PDFs with all the information you'll need.

Relax...just try it. I'm a novice too. Buy a goood book of JAVA
(I'm using Java - How to Program, Deitel & Deitel).
Next try http://www.superwaba-france.com
to start with the tutorials about super waba. I'm trying too. I hope I can make it. |
