| My NX 70 would only get 2.5 hours, 5.0 hours with the backlight off. I presume this was one continous session?

| Yup. I used Battery Time to time my PDA. Setting my screen brightness at 50%, I run the test till it hit 10% from full charge. No other things were done, no MP3 playback.
I will be testing to see how much more battery life there is if 100Mhz is used instead soon. hopefully it hits 8 hours.

| Would you please tell me how do you keep the NX on all the time ? That is, how to prevent it from auto off ?
I am intereted to see how long it can last when brightness is set to 25% |

| Who uses an NX80 at HALF brightness?! Mines either at the lowest setting indoors in dimmer environments or over the 'e' in 'Done'. 50% is nice, and bright but a bit unrealistic as to normal usage. It's the kind of setting you use to show your friends "look how bright it can get! And thats only 50%!"

| 5 hours seems short yes, but the backlight matters a lot. An NX70 can get up 10 hours with backlight off. I get 5 to 6 hours with backlight on lowest. Never tried it on medium setting though. But the point is, even using it on the lowest setting cuts the time in half!

| When I first got my NX80 I went on a trip on trains and buses and wanted to see how long the battery would last. I had a T615 prior and it would give me 3 to 4 hours. I didn't time it and I had it on the lowest setting and I used it extensively from 6 am to 11:30 pm where it was down to 35%. I was quite happy with that.

| that is about the time i have. considering mine was set at 50% brightness, it should last about 8 hours on lowest settings. I'm going to try out if there is any significant difference when it is underclock at 100MHZ, comparing to the normal of 200MHZ...

| Sony rates battery life at 7 hours over a 14 day period with 50% brightness at 30 minutes usage a day. I get about 2.5 hours of Wifi usage vs the NX70's Wifi usage of 1.5 hours.
Sony rates the NX70 at 5 hours over 10 days.

This reminds me of how well I have my desktop PC setup and how efficiently I have it running. Just in case someone besides me would ever use it. Problem is, no one else but me uses it!

Sony rates the NX70 at 5 hours over 10 days. | He, he, yeah we should all start mentioning wildy differreing usage figures. With backlight off, lowest, one third, 50% full, with or without using WiFi ...
It's just impossible to name any figure that is applicable for all situations.
For instance I easily get 2.5 hours of WiFi on my NX70 with low backlight, but then I have an AP that supports the powersafe mode. I have also gotten 9 hours of usage with backlight off (while logging GPS) Between 2.5 and 9 hours is quite a large gap.
For PocketPC's there is a tool that will predict the amount of time the battery will last from measuring it's voltage periodically. It just extrapolates the line after a few measurements. That way you can quickly see what impact certain changes have. Is there such a program for PalmOS?
Another point is that in 10 days you will lose a lot of charge even with the PDA off. That may sound like a silly point, but it might be about half the battery life!! I really have had a hard reset by just letting my Clie T625C laying around for a month or so. I didn't really understand why that heppened so quickly until I saw the VeritTest Palm vs PocketPC test where they tested that a Tungsten will lose all data in around 20 days (which they claimed was very good even).
