Bluetooth Hot Sync

I am thinking of purchasing a USB Bluetooth Adaptor and performing a Hot Sync.

Is this posible? If so, how do you configure it?

Thanks

The answer is yes - you can do a bluetooth sync (on both Windows machines and PC's, that is - I don't know about Linux). The question for you, however, is what operating system are you using? That will make a big difference on answering how to do it. If you are using a Mac and don't have integrated bluetooth, I would highly recommend the D-Link DBT-120 Adapter (actually, even if you are using a Win machine, I would recommend the adapter) - it has worked very well for me.

Belkin has a couple cheap <$30 USB adapters.

You setup the Bluetooth as a serial port, and tell hotsync to use that serial port. Works just like you had a serial cable plugged into your PDA. 115Kbps transfer rate.

WiFi seems to sync faster, but requires more hardware and configuration.

Unhappy Bluetooth blues

I have tried sychronizing with bluetooth several timer but always get a message in the clie saying that the com port is being used by another aplication. Since my computer has the BT already integrated in it I have not found a way to alter the config. Any ideas?
Regards,
B.

bruno_h: Usually that message means that you don't have your Hotsync configured properly on the Clie. First, make sure you have Hotsync set to local, then by going into the menu, select Connection Setup. It is best to have created your own connection and set it properly to Bluetooth. (See my posting Thoughts & Tips on Syncing PEG-UX50 w/ Mac/OS X, iCal, Address Book and Palm Desktop for better UX50 <-> Mac via Bluetooth syncing instructions.) I have found that whenever I get the error you are mentioning, a different connection is highlighted (than the one specifically for BT syncing to my workstation). Post back if you continue to have problems and try to describe what you have done to resolve it, so far.

Unhappy Bluetooth blues

snfettig:
Saldy, I have done everyting you mentioned and the little blue light even pops on for a second and then I get the dereaded message. I have a windows based system I don't know if that helps but I hope I can resolve this before the little port door falls of the new clie...

also, make sure the COM port in the HotSync manager matches the COM port being used by the BT dongle.

This is the adapter I was looking at too and I finaly bought it but I can't find anywhere in the books on how to set my machine up to hotsync via bluetooth. I am using Windows XP could someone help me with a step by step setup process or direct me to the correct page number or web site from sony to do this.

Also Can you use the Data import/export function via bluetooth?

Also I have installed the software for the bluetooth adapter, but it says that I need to imput a password on both devices to connect? Can I turn this off, I have been looking but I haven't anything on how to turn it off. Sorry to be such a noob about this but I am. I want to learn how to do this, I am even taking a course at college on how to network so I can do all my computers on bluetooth, but for right now the clie is kicking my butt and I don't know if I will ever get the upper hand lol. I love this machine and I hope to get it up and running

fearless, I am on a G5 Mac so I'm not 100% sure for you but from reading everything I don't think you can data import/export via bluetooth.

I got mine to work by doing as dimensiondvdrob said, you need to find out what com port your bluetooth adapter is using and set your local serial as a hot sync method. That has worked for me. I even had full internet access through bluetooth but since broke that and can't get it back.
