| Mpeg Videos How do I transfer Mpeg (or any other video format) from my computer to Memory Stick so that I can view the video file on my UX-50?
I know there is instructions on the "Clie Application Manual" however using a Mac and can't open the Clie Application Manual - it's not a pdf file.
Thanks |

| For MPEG files, you need to rename them in MOV00001.MPG, MOV00002.MPG (and so on...) and place them in folder DCIM/100MSDCF/ or MSSONY/MOML0001/
For creating MPEG4 files (MQV) you need to use Image Converter... But if you are on Mac, I don't know...

| Ahhhhh... hrmm.. i was wondering about this myself. This is my first Palm device and i'm trying to get use to the differences between Palm and PocketPC.
Also.. How would I browse my UX50's files and MS from my desktop being hooked up through bluetooth? Is there a way to browse and upload/download/rename/copy/delet/ ect.. from my desktop like i can do with a PPC?
Thanks

| Sorry if this isn't the right place for this, but my question is also around video. What if I have video that utilizes the QuickTime player on my PC? How do I go about transfering those to play on the UX-50? |

| Right, use Image Converter. It will automatically do everything you need to put your videos on the UX50. Quote: |

You can't do this through Bluetooth but your Clie comes with a pair of apps called Data Import/Data Export that can do all this.

| Thanks for the info.
Apparently Image Converter only works with Windows OS and not for the Mac OS. It seems Kinoma is the only way to go for Mac OS users.
Quick question, can the Kinoma compress video files (such as mpeg) further, like Image Converter?
It's a bit frustrating using the Mac with the Clie - everything is design around Windows OS. While there are patch program (e.g. missing sync and Kinoma ) out there, you need to pay for them - where if you use a PC the software is free. |

| I found (I speak when I tested with the NX70V) the quality of Kinoma less interesting than a video encoded with Image Converter...
And the sound was really better with Image Converter, but this was normal because of the "special" SONY sound API which were never released to other developpers...

| Hold on here on that Mac Question. You can simply take any MPEG of the Mac and put it right on the UX-50 no converters needed.
Try this one out, on the Sony CD that came with the UX there is a short called "dolphin.mpg". If you take this and rename it to MOV00001.MPG then place it in the directory on the MS "/DCIM/101MSDCF"
I found that if you make a Dir called /DCIM/101MSDCF if it is not there it will still work.
I also tried adding this /DCIM/100MSDCF and this worked too.
The renaming thing is a bit of a PAIN because you cant figure out what is what, and you can't rename ther files either on the UX. I figured the above out with the help of SonicBoy with some Dir tinkering around.
P.S. I'm mounting the MS on my Mac desktop with a small USB MS card reader, works like a charm.

#14 | | Guest | But it seems image will not encode a lot of format, even though they'll play in my Windows Media Player. What will that converter be able to convert ?
