| Best Resource for RN's?? I am nearing the end of my 30-day trial of Pepid RN and am debating on whether to purchase it. It seems to be fairly complete with lab values, drug reference as well as disease reference, etc. I like the all in one. I am trying to be cost-effective in what I decide to purchase. I also am trying the trial of RNFastFacts - but find that this isn't quite as complete.
I probably will buy the Pepid, but am wondering if there is anything else out there??? I have looked at Skyscape as well as PDACortex and haven't found much else.
Before I buy anything, just wanted to check here to see if anyone here has found anything better...
Thanks! |

| I live by Pepid. Unfortunately, I am an NP student and there are still things that I cannot find that I need in the program and am thinking of purchasing another version of Pepid.
One thing that you may want to consider about Pepid is their outstanding customer service. I have had installation issues, etc. and my emails and phone calls were dealt with promptly and my program was quickly available again.....just my 2 cents!

| What other version of Pepid would you purchase? I am thinking about perhaps buying Tabers, as I sometimes find medical definitions that are not on Pepid - and then I have to go and locate our units Tabers. I did go ahead and buy a 2 year subscription of Pepid though, and am very happy with it.
I hopefully will be in school for Nurse Practitioner soon, as well. We have an RN to MSN bridge program nearby, but I have a couple of prereq's left. How are you liking it? I am looking forward to it.
Glad to hear good feedback about their customer service.
Thanks for the response!!

| Check out Epocrates... Frequent Online Updates and the "non-pro" version is free. |

| Ironically, I am considering Tabers also......funny huh? Have you demoed Tabers yet?
I am about halfway through my RN to MSN program and am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Is your program geared for returning RNs or is it mainly a BSN-MSN bridge?

#7 | | Guest | I "demoed" Tabers, but the demo doesn't let you see any of the actual info - it just lets you see how the program is set up, and then when you try to click on the "word" you are trying to look up, it goes to a page that gives an explaination that to view the information, you must purchase the full version. I like how Pepid let you use the whole thing for a month before buying it.
I am an RN who works in PCU and the program is an RN to MSN bridge program. Do you work while going to school? | |

| I work SICU on the weekends while going to school....worked more before, but eventually cut back cause it was a bit too much. I am going to school more than full time....trying to get it all done quickly!
That sucks about Tabers....I suppose I should look into it more huh?

| Crzygrl, I sent you a PM!
I think anything you demo from Skyscape (Tabers, RNFastFacts, etc.) is like that. You don't really get to demo it. RNFast Facts seemed to have similar info as Pepid, but I couldn't really demo it and so I bought Pepid instead. Plus Pepid is updated each month and the other isn't. I like to be able to take it to work and see how useful it is "in the real world" |

| I too, tried Epocrates and to be honest, the info on Pepid or even Tarascon, is more complete than Epocrates.
Tarascon was free while it was in beta, but now there is a small cost for it. I decided not to buy it since I bought Pepid - but I did try it and some of my co-workers went ahead and bought it. Also, I believe Tarason can run from the memory stick, whereas I know that Epocrates can't. Pepid does run from the memory stick, but the nice thing is that it puts the icon for the program right on the main part of the PDA, so I can "categorize" it and file it with my other "Nursing" apps. If this went entirely on the memory stick, I would have to go to the memory card everytime I wanted to open it. I keep all of my nursing apps plus my calculator in one category, and keep this one open while I am at work.
BTW, have you all found Palm EKG or ABG decoder? Both of these are free. http://palmekg.com/PalmEKG/ http://www.rnpalm.com/abg_decoder_download.htm |

I love the abg decoder.....strangely enough, Pepid has nothing similar although it has a million other calculators!

You haven't found any good software for patient tracking at the bedside have you?
