#1 | | Guest | Bluetooth-based MS Import-like program? Does anyone have a way of setting up any of the bluetooth-based Clies so that they can serve as a hard drive over bluetooth in a manner such as the MS Import program works with Windows? | |

| I usually use FTP, but I think Mobilefile might do basically what you're looking for.. I have not tried it myself however. http://quickoffice.com/mobilefile/index.html
[Edit]
Well, just kidding.. Mobilefile does some of the stuff, but its more a QuickOffice thing than a file sharing program. We need like a bunch of programmers to write some basic networking utilities.

| I use VFSFTP.. http://www.ninelocks.com/vfsftp/vfsftp.html
Like seemingly all the network apps for Palm, it needs HiRes and could use a better designed interface, but its pretty quick, and lets me do all the FTP commands I need.
Now if only someone would design a proper SCP client, and I'd be in business |

| I'm no moron.. but I'm having trouble grasping how you'd use FTP to do MSIMPORT tasks? If you try to connect to the palm as an ftp sever does the memory stick show up as the destination? ???
out my brain...
I'd like to see a way to hotsync via somethign other then bluetooth serial as well. So slow :-(

| Hehe.. its not quite the same.. lemme clarify.
I have an FTP server running, and I use my TG50 to connect to the network through Bluetooth. This allows me to download/upload files on the server/MS and use the server to share files. So in essence, the Palm itself is not the server, the more powerful computer is, but I can still move and delete files remotely/locally without switching apps.
You could also run like FTP Serv-U on your desktop to share files, instead of having a full-blown seperate computer like I do. This way with VNC, Telnet, or SSH, you could easily manage your desktop and move files around you wish to put on your MS.
all I need now is WiFi, SSH (for real.. with HiRes, and like color), and IMAP and I am in business
