SCSI Driver - Data Export Driver problem :/

Well, I just got my Clie this morning, and after the long wait for the 1st time charge, I have finally turned it on and started installing the apps on the CD etc.

I've done everything else successfully except for the Data Export installation part :/

Every time I try to install this it finished the 1st part and the 2nd part of the installation sorta finishes :/ It gives me this message saying "SCSI driver failed to install."

Is there a way to solve this problem?

Thanks in advance.

What version Windows are you using? I hope you did not try and activate the MS Import app on the Clie before installing MS Export if using Win XP?? What Clie are you using now and what were you using before?

Ok, well I used to have a Clie SJ33 but that's been a while now, coz I sold it and wanted to get a NZ70... then heard the announcement of the NX73/80 and so I waited and waited...

So basically I have no traces of Palm/Clie software.

I'm currently running Windows XP Pro.

What do you mean running MS Import? How do i activate it? All I did was install hotsync and install the other software etc then hotsync'd.

I've searched and tried removing the USB roots etc but with no hope :/

Also i think I've uninstalled (redone) Export Data too many times, everytime I uninstall it cant seem to find data2.cab :S

could it be possible that its because I have a Sony P1 camera and have used that on my PC? or maybe because i'm using the original purple memorystick and not the pro?

On some NX's it's called MS Import on the newer ones it's called Data Import and it's in ROM on your Clie. It enables your Clie to emulate an external disk drive on the desktop PC's Windows Explorer.

I have 4 or 5 Sony cameras installed, USB1 and USB2.

The USB driver is located under C:\Program Files\Sony Handheld\USB Driver\ folder on the desktop PC.

What I was trying to say, if you had enable Data Import on the Clie before installing Data Export, you could have hosed things up.

Below is one user's experience:

I have been reading and searching for answers. Either this forum is not the best or people are more seeking answers rather than provided one. I scrolled through many unnecessary comments post however. At the end, the researching lead me to more knowledge about NX80.

Data Import and Export:

These were issues:
1) Data Export failed to install from CD.
2) Data Import would connect to the computer but no way to access them.
Main Cause: 6in1 Media Reader.

My steps of solution:
1) Clean install is always the best. Thus, uninstall Export, Scsi driver, and any remaning folders in the C:\program files or Windows files that lead to this. Uninstall the drivers from the device manager.

2) Reboot (It's time consuming but worth it). I turn it off COMPLETELY and then turn it back on.

3A) Reload the Data Export driver back and got it back to work.

3) HOWEVER, the issue for me was with a 6in1 media reader recently installed on the bay of my computer. I got a hint of this from a Linux based forum by change. (Those Linux folks detail forum with detailed information) I went back to device manager to disable the four storage volume drivers(?). THEN I Loaded.

I had to delete, reset, softset, hard reset, lose files including MS stick files and backup, smoke many packs, eyes watering from glare of the monitors, lacked in sleep but it's done. So..to say time and effort...I made a COPY back up of MS stick files to My Documents.

it might say installing, but I had went to add/remove programs and thats what it said :/

also, when i press cancel, it tells me that if i cancel it, it will prevent the whole thing from uninstalling, but yet it is removed from the add/remove programs list :S

Hi David,

I have been out most of the day. I searched my hard drive, the only data3.cab file that I have, is for Quicken. I have 347,000+ files on my system. For the past 3 hours I have searched high and low, even the registry and CD-ROM. Now the path shown in your post is the right folder and key for the Data Export uninstaller, but there is no data3.cab anywhere. Obviously something got hosed some where along the way, but what??

Here is what I would do if it were my system. First create a restore point! Then make a copy of the folder that is displayed in the ClieSource pic where it's looking for data3.cab. I would then rename that folder, just change one character and write it down. Then try and install Data Export again. If it works, then delete the folder that you renamed. Keep the copy for awhile just in case.

I really hope it helps!

thanks Larry, I figured it out. Stupidly I didnt get the fact that when you data import on the NX80 you at the top can change the cf or ms. I never even looked and when i did it said CF so when i changed even when connected to data import to pc, i can switch the ms to cf with no problem and the filez what a great program i was able to get rid of the read files and left over junk ones, so thank you for all your help.
