| Picking up 2 new Clie's tomorrow Well, my Dad pulled out his Handspring Visor today and noticed a huge web crack in the center of the screen making the device unuseable. He is very careful with it, and he thinks that someone must have bumped into him this morning and he didn't realize it. Tomorrow we are going to Best Buy to pick up the SJ22 for $179. Since my Mom's clie is getting old as well, we decided to pick up two of them. Best Buy has this new rewards thing that every $125 you spend you get $5 back in gift certificate form. I'll get 2 plus some left over points for the next 125...so I am happy as well. Can't wait to setup another PDA, the first few times using a new PDA is always fun, even if its not my PDA to keep.
Erik
EDIT: If anyone needs a Prism for parts contact me. It works fine, the LCD is fine, the glass i just cracked. The battery still holds its charge. |

| Why not upgrade to SJ33? I heard you can get the SJ33 for $179 easily.
Too bad about the Prism that's a very nice palm for people who mostly work indoors.
You mean the digitizer is cracked? Buy a new one. |

| IMO the Zire is too flimsy for my dad to use. Neither parents will every use the camera and the blue color is too childish. There is no reason to go any higher in models, all they need is color and rechargable battery, everything else is secondary.
Yes, the screen (glass) broke. According to a website, its a $68 part, its not worth it.

The Zire is more then $100 more, and it includes features they will never use. He uses no extra programs, just stores many phone #'s, uses the basic datebook, and the todo list. I doubt if he uses more then 2MB.
My mom uses the standard features plus Scrabble, Text Twist, and a few others like that. Speed and memory again will not be an issue.
As for being flimsy...its easy to unveil the camera and its a bit weird to hold...the last thing I need is for him to slide the camera out by mistake.
Overall, the Zire does not look like a business tool and neither parent could actually use it when they needed to.
The Sony is the cheapest color PDA. Thats all they need, Cheap, Color, and rechargable. BB is giving us $10 back, plus 10% off this weekend. I think its a good deal and they will have it in hand tomorrow, no shipping delays. My dad needs a working PDA on Monday morning.

| Tifosiv-Tell your dad that buying the Z71 is like buying a PDA and a digital camera, not just a more expensive PDA. Don't mention picture quality.
Oral, hahahaha, I sold my Palm Vx for $20. I sold the PPKVx for $30.
I got both for free. |

He would be sold on the Digi if it was at a resolution he could use. He uses a camera all day long, but he uses a Mavica. He could get away with the 2mp NZ, but its like a brick, he complains about my NX...and he needs a flash, 99% of his pictures are in the dark.

| His original Mavica used floppy only. His next one used floppy and MS. Now, his uses CD-Rs, I don't think MS are on the device at all...but even if it is, he's never used a MS before.
