Unhappy NR70V - won't sync

I just got a 12" PowerBook so thought I'd make the NR70V talk to it (great way to keep my contacts in sync I thought....)

but.... installed the Palm desktop, rebooted, plugged in the USB cable, and pressed sync on the Clie.... and.... nothing but a message that the port was being used by another device on the Clie screen (huh !)

So added the iSync conduit.... and..... same result.

Does the NR70V simply not talk to OSX or am I missing something real obvious.

Is MissingSync required ? Will it solve the problem ? Are there other (free ?) alternatives that might help out ?

i had the same problem with my NR70V/G and checked things out, seems that we have to fork out US$30 for a special SYnc that would work with Palm Desktop 4.

havent found any Free Syncs yet though but i doubt there'll be any out there... pity though.. really sad.

hmmm... did a total uninstall, and a reinstall of Palm Desktop 4.1 for Mac... and now it works (go figure)
added the iSync and Entourage conduits after I got it to work the first time.
now though the power management logic board has failed and my apple went back to the shop so I can't do any more testing for a while.
MissingSync seems to be awesome though...
