| what the hell? Recently got the NX60. Also got a 128MB m'stick. After exploring my unit more (he he) I realized that even though it came with 16MB internal memory, only 11 of it is really usable with all the factory installed apps.
Questions:
1) Do you all just store more apps on your m'stick?
2) Are there any progs you recommend STRICTLY storing on internal mem or m'stick?
Any insight is welcome/

| Well at least we can all skip the SEARCH FIRST!!! posts and start being nice again...
As you might have noticed almost all apps for palm os are tiny (<500k or so)... that means that 11mb is pretty decent BUT the really kwel apps can take upto 3mb (netfront etc...)
Yes you can run most off of the MS
Yes you can store content on the MS
Yes not all apps will like either of the above options...
Soo what I have done is keep the essentials on the internal memory & store off the Kwel apps on MS and load them as I need them...
Few problems:
You need at least X free memory internal to run app off of MS of size X
Slow runing large apps off of the MS

| I put everything I can in the /Palm/Launcher folder that I can, except for the apps related databases. Some apps can manage their db's on the card too. It's on a per case basis, read the fine print.
Something like Datebook5 I'd keep in RAM or anything uses alarms or mission critical operations.

LOL!
Anyways, hopefully Jackflash will be updated for OS5 soon...it will allow you do delete apps on the ROM while in turn allowing you to move frequently used apps to the ROM saving on the RAM. |

| I have used Palm since the Palm Pro. I have a NR-70 and last week got the NX-70, So how goes it?
Is the NX a good upgrade; yes
no problems tranfering the basic things such as dates, contacts, memos ect.
Programs? most work fine.
Hacks? some work, thanks to teal. ie; popup names and start up sounds, ect.
Wireless? a gas, It works fin, and I love it. no problems with it at home, or out in the field.
GET RID OF NETFRONT!!! go with Blazer.
Most apps. will run fine off of the MS if you remember to use directories, ect.
I have over 40 programs in my palm, and still 5 meg. free in base memory, but still intend to use jack flash when it comes out.
In short, I love my NX.

| I was one of those who never stored anything on MS....but lately I transferred many of my seldon used apps (such as games) to my MS....Games are usually large (memory wise) so it freed up a ton of space for the apps tha I use regularly.
I dont mind switching mem sticks to play games....I play them so rarely that it is of little consequesnce. |

| Another thing to remember is that unless you are using shortcuts from Launcher X, any program that needs to be synced during Hotsync will need to be in RAM. Same with any app you want to assign to one of the hard keys.
