| Old memos deleted? My battery ran out on my Clie. So I hotsynced it, everything is there but the memos. That was the most important stuff. The todo and everything is there, but the memos are gone. I looked in the backup folder under memopad and it only has some memos, I think those are the ones from my old m505.
Is there anyway to get back my old memos? |

| Do you have Norton's undelete? Look in the Recycle bin to see if it's still there. When a file is erased, it's usually just the first letter. Norton's undelete has bailed my butt out many times. I suppose you didn't nack it up to the memory stick. Never rely on the desktop for backup, for a variety of reasons.
Are you sure in the memopad folder there is no memopad.bak? Backup file, just rename it to memopad.dat to restore it.

| Yes, the memopad backup should be in something like:
C:\Program Files\Sony Handheld\[your CLIE's username]\memopad\memopad.bak

| IT just opens a word pad file with the file name and a bunch of squares. Do I drag that .bak file somewhere? |

| Depends on if you use Palm Desktop as your main program. Does the .bak file have the current date?
If so, close down Palm DT, open windows explorer and cruise over to the directory mentioned above. Then rename the existing memopad.dat to memopad.new, and rename the memopad.bak to memopad.dat. Open up Palm Desktop and check to see if your memos are there.
If they are, just do a dt overwrites handheld sync for memos and you are set. If they are not and the file looks old, close down Palm Desktop, go back to the directory, rename memopad.dat to memopad.bak and rename memopad.new back to memopad.dat.
Hopefully you get everything back...good luck. |

Dan, I think you have a typo in your Sig though. Not being critical, but I just noticed it
"Having a smoking section in a restaurant like having a peeing section in a swimming pool."
Shouldn't it be?
"Having a smoking section in a restaurant is like having a peeing section in a swimming pool."
'is like' instead of 'like' |

It's really quick to do, but as Griff said, make sure you do this before you hotsync, otherwise you will lose the info.

| Hannibal, thanks for the correction. If there are more people like you, my English would be much better by now.

And I'm a smoker to boot, but a courteous one and am in the process of quitting. BTW, I am VERY careful when in the pool. |

| I hope you quit it for good.
'VERY careful', hmm, what an ambiguous choice of words, you either being sneaky and spread the leak unnoticeably or just trying to keep your cigaret dry while skinny dipping, or may be both. I better keep an eye on you when you are in my swimming pool.
