Talking NX80 Picture Review,Leather case pics and review updated :)

Hi people! I just received my NX80V today, and I decided to do a photo review for this great device First of all, let me share my first impressions of the NX80. The photos will come in the following few posts.

General impression...The built and quality of the unit is fantastic! Casing has a nice smooth feeling, Camera swivels smoothly, the Hinge feels much more solid than my NX70v, swivels smoothly and steadily. Compact flash slot mechanism feels and looks nice, like the mechanism used in Sony MD players.

Screen Review... The LCD screen is awesome! Much brighter than the NX70v, pictures and videos look great on the screen.

Touch screen sensitivity feels great to me, almost the same as my NX70v (apparently, Sony successfully solved the unresponsive touch screen units after their silent recall succesfully)

Keyboard... The keys are almost flush to the surface, so some people may find it more difficult to type on. The orange back light looks pretty nice, and I feel that the keyboard buttons are actually nicer to press down on.

Digital camera... The start up time is almost instant, like the NX70. However, the quality is rather disappointing. The camera seems to have a problem focusing at objects that are near to the lens. I took pictures of the NX80 operating manual from anout 20cm away and the words are not focused. The quality of this 1.3 MP camera loses to my old sony 1.3 MP cybershot dsc U-10. Think it's due to the lack of a MAcro function.

Stylus... It is small and takes some getting used to.... Looks like I won't be using the stock stylus.

Accessories... All the supplied accessories are exactly the same as the NX70V down to the hotsync cradle.

Battery Life.. is Awesome!! I can watch a mpeg movie with full brightness for ten minutes and the battery level doesn't drop. B4 watching battery level = 59% after watching still 59% awesome! My NX70 battery levels always drops by 5-10% after watching a 5 mins video clip at only middle brightness.

The NX 80 fits the sony sports pouch perfectly like a glove.

Overall impression is very good as I have no intention of replacing my 3.2 megapixel camera with this 1MP nx80.camera.

Now here come the pictures...

Filter On..... It seems like the filter makes a good dust cover for the camera lens when switched on

As you can see from the picture, Sony uses a rubber stopper on 4 corners of the body of the pda to prevent the screen portion from rubbing against the keyboard portion. This new design is good as the stoppers of the NX70v were made of plastic and tended to scratch the casing on the screen part of the PDA.

Side view of the rubber stopper at work. Theres a gap in between the 2 portions of the PDA. this makes me think that the plastic stickers for the TG50 keyboard to raise the height of the keyboard buttons should work for the NX80 keyboard if the manufacturer decides to make it for the NX80. The gap in between the 2 separate portions of the PDA should allow the NX80 to close comfortably with the stickers applied.

The sony pouch can accomodate the NX80 very comfortably

Nice review and pics!

Boy you got it today and had the time to do all this.

I always like love nx series and Sony definitely raised the stakes with this one.

I think the NX80 is very refined, one could almost call it... dare I say it... Yes, I'll say it.

One could almost call it sexy and you most definitely caught the NX80 in all it's essence.

Once again, nice work.

Great pictures

Great pictures ricleo!

I think that the quality is very good. Keep in mind, I do not own a digital camera. But to have that quality in a pda that you can take with you anywhere, I think they are excellent. The sony case is a good idea also.
