| Hi ricleo!
well, using the Eruware's Driver in dual mode, I never had any problems with the AudioPlayer dealing with MP3, so running with the NX73 CF Driver I don't have any trouble at all what-so-ever! Really amazes me, how this NX73 CF Driver can turn out to be a workaround that offers similar functions as the eruware's driver.
But then of course, I'm sure there're Pro's & Con's to this. Could Sony be making a fool of themselves by releasing this CF Driver for the new NX73/80? It opened up a new solutions for accessing to their "Banded applications" now?!

| I'm anxiously waiting for day 3
but just as CliePet has already mentioned, it's the libs and the libx differences, I think pretty much he has given us a hint on the soft-reset to switch between the eruware driver & the NX73 CF hacked driver.
One thing amazes me is that I can actually use a Compact Flash Card without the eruware driver inside. wierd feeling but everything works just exactly the same!

| Hmmmm...the sony driver is more stable and reliable, and now its able to play movies and mp3s... this may turn out to be EruWare's biggest nightmare! Looks like EruWare has a huge job cut out for them to improve their driver by leaps and bounds.

| well, pressure is good, since I am a registered user of eruware, wouldn't mind to see more enhanced features from them.

#20 | | Guest | I tried inserting the MS a few sec after the CF was inserted.
The Audio player did play the mp3 but is inaudible. Could be too slow or sth. Btw, I am using the 128 Scan disk CF card.
Could the card be the problem or sth? Anyone has any similar experiences? | |

| well, I just changed back to my eruware driver as I find that more convient for now, you get to choose how & when you want to mount the Compact Flash Card. How as in, slow mode/ slow mount/ read only/ cache ON... etc... When as in, Automount, manual mount. Or not mounted but can still have the CF Card inserted.
With the NX73 CF Driver you have to initially take out the CF inorder to avoid the Clie from reading off the Card. Just as an MS is inserted into the MS Slot.
But waiting for CliePets greatest day 3

| okay, still watching and waiting... I have been watching this driver (speculation, cf driver from Eruware, from about October 02) development from pretty close to the beginning and am still out on whether to buy it. If it is now out there for free, which the Eruware driver has been known to be a target for cracking/hacking then who is to say they will continue with any kind of enhancements now? I guess they could, but what is the point? cliepet has "hacked" the new driver, eddy says it does pretty much the same thing as the eruware driver so what is the initiative to continue? I would just move on and work on something else. Cliepet are you going to keep updating this? if so, to what point? |

| you have a point cliener
As with CliePet his next step will be the method to switch swap between the NX73 CF & the Eruware CF to avoid conflict, because those 2 drivers can't co-exist with each other.
IMHO, I'd like to keep the NX73's CF driver for it's stability, & use the eruware driver for the multi-media part, (since I already bought it.)

| Okay, I'm lost or did something wrong. I followed the steps in part I and II, did the install, but neither MoverPlayer nor AudioPlayer see the CF. Filez sees it just fine, and so do other apps, but not those two. What did I miss?

FWIW: I came on the scene late (skipping the NX and waiting for the NZ90)
I had already missed the $$ collection ClieSource had taken up, the petition and almost a year of complaining about the lack of a Sony CF driver. At that time a different company was promising a CF driver (to be out some time in April/May if I recall).
Things have changed a lot since Feb/March.
-------
> ... which the Eruware driver has been known to be a target for cracking/hacking
I don't think that is true.
The ClieSource BBS has been very good about policing 'cracked' versions of retail software.
AFAIK: there is no valid cracked version of the EruWare driver.
(my terminology: hacking = enhancing = good, cracking = stealing = bad)
---------
> eddy says it does pretty much the same thing as the eruware driver
It depends on the apps you want to use.
The main banned apps are still not working with the '3 bit' solution.
I've asked Eddy for clarification, because I can't get the Audio Player to work (it sees the tracks but doesn't play them). It may be a problem specific to my CF cards
---------
> Cliepet are you going to keep updating this? if so, to what point?
No, I've reached my quota - 3 bits.
---------
There are still other compatibility issues, and the key 'banned apps' that do not work.
EruWare has technology for dealing with those things, and I assume they are still working on them -- in particular the movie camera capture
IMHO: A driver with the stability and the speed of the Sony driver, and the ability to work with all the apps like the EruWare driver (including the movie camera) would be worth $27, even for NX73/80 owners.
Disclaimer: I am a EruWare customer (not NDA beta tester). I don't work for Sony (although I like/buy/pimp their products)

No, it shows "No Memory Stick Installed" or something similar.

#29 | | Guest | I agree for the most part I know that Cliesource has been very good about cleaning up after posts stating cites that have supposed cracked versions of the eruware cf driver. However, I disagree that it isn't true that the driver has been a target of hackers/crackers from the first beta testing. It is a well known fact that info was leaked from the first beta. There are still cites NOT CLIESOURCE that push and list their eruware versions out there. I am sure Eruware is aware of these and there are numerous old posts to cliesource about this with ayasin being given the heads up.
All I am saying is that there isn't any real business reason for Eruware to pursue further development. I think they have done a great job by giving us the initial driver and thus opening the door.
I don't think they will view Cliepets attempts at working with the sony driver as "pulling the rug out from under them" because they seem to conduct themselves as a business regardless of how close they get to their clients in relation to the driver.
I really hope to see other developments from Eruware and am looking forward to at least getting a glimpse of their next project. | |

| Well, some of us at least are a little picky about legality. I wouldn't use an illegally copied Sony driver. I suspect I am not alone in this. After all, a driver is just as much a piece of commercial software. The fact that it's bundled "for free" with the NX73 is irrelevant. And it's not really "for free" since the development costs add to the NX73's price.
So for those of us who want to stay honest, it's Eruware.
