| This FTP is so awsome! I love the selection (Final Fantasy and some Animatrix), even though it takes quite a while to download it's still great. As soon as I learn how to convert files like these I will be sure to upload a few more movies. Thanks !!!

| MOVIE FOLDER? Which Folder does a movie have to live in to be recognized by movie player?
It shows up on the memorystick, but won't open.
The movie plays fine on my desktop in Quicktime, but isn't visible or recognized by the Clié.
Any thoughts appreciated. |

It shows up on the memorystick, but won't open. | /MQ_ROOT/100MQV01/ & remember movie files names has to be in "MOV00001.MQV" for example.

| Eddy,
I have a Mac and open the memory stick on the desktop; I drag and drop the movie (renamed MOVOOO1.MQV) into whatever folder. I am unclear where it should be to be detected by Clié.
Is the 'root' pc specific? |

For I use PC, (so not too sure about MAC) but would say that it's CLIE specific, the movieplayer will not see the movie files unless they're put inside the specified directory. /MQ_ROOT/100MQV01/ is where all the "MOV00001.MQV" should be placed.
P.S. file name is "MOV#####.MQV" (MOV+5numbers.MQV), I see the file name you posted is in MOVOOO1.MQV & not MQV00001.MQV
Hope this helps

| HEY BroCLie. do this.
First the file should be run from the proper directory /MQ_ROOT/100MQV01/
The mqv movies have to be strictly named MOV00001.MQV all in capital letters. The number should be different for every file. But thats not all...
Even if I change it in the palm the movie player didn't recognize the file. What I did to solve the problem was to rewrite the file MOV00001.MQV to MOV00001.MV save it; and change it back to its original name MOV00001.MQV. All this in the palm. After that the movie player recognized the file with no problem. |

| Memory stick directory Back to Basics for a moment.
I took a 4mb stick to experiment with and formatted it in the Clié TG50 with Palm OS5. I did this instead of the 128mb stick which was formatted in a Sony camera (perhaps formatted different creating different directories, but still working) only to experiment with.
I am unclear who or which creates the recognizable file and directory and what gets renamed.
After reformatting, I only have: /PALM/Programs
Then below are 2 folders: one unnamed and the other MSFILES
Both are empty.
I am reading this stick on the TG50 clicking the Clie Files program on the Palm desktop.
Unless I am in outer space (possible) I am overlooking something basic all of you are doing.
The movie is viewable on a Mac without altering anything. I tried viewing Minority Report which appears as: minority report1.mqv
Double click, opens and plays in Quicktime 6.0
Any ideas? |

| I know this is a video forum question, but someone here will probably know the answer to my question. So I want to split a video in virtualdub into smaller sizes by saving as segmented avi. This is to avoid the 130 MB prob. The avi is already split into 2 x 1 GB files and ready for image converter (divx +pcm). My question is: will vdub recompress the avi when segmenting to further degrade quality before sending segmented files to IC? Thanks. |
