| Repainting the Clie... Does anyone have problems with the scratches??
I mean... it doesn't make any harm but it bothers me that a $700 gadget looks like crap.
I made some searches and it would look good if I used a spray to paint the clie but the problem is that I have to cover the letters.
It's easy to cover the CLIE sign on the front because it's big but what about "PERSONAL ENTERTAINMENT ORGANIZER"??
it's thinner than my finger nails.
Can someone give me any suggestions???? |

| I have always wanted to take apart my Clie and do a real high quality automotive paint job to it. I have no clue how to do it though, and I'm afraid the thickness of the paint on the parts would cause problems getting them to fit back together.
I say let the "Personal Entertainment Organizer" get covered. |

| I agree with Ocellnuri . . . just get a nice cover and use it. Safer than turning your $700 piece of equipment into $6 worth of parts . . .

| keke, i had the same idea myself!I wanted to spray paint it gunmetal, thought of getting an airbrush so the paint work will be even. All that i'm worried about is whether i can take it apart and put it back together properly. I agree with OcellNuri, let the "Personal Entertainment Organizer" get covered. The gunmetal NX70 doesn't have the words beneath the "CLIE" anywayz if i remember correctly.
Anyone with urls that teaches how to disasemble the NR completely??

| I too wanted to 'change the color' of my clies over the years. I had a unit that got a major bath and took it appart to see how hard the case would be to get to. Not a big issue at all.
I'm sorry I'm drawing a blank on the type of paint to use. But I researched it at length. I found the info on a couple Mac Modifier sites (there are a few out there).
It was a model paint that went on thin and stayed on with use as these folks were doing their keyboards, whole desktop units, as well their notebooks.
I'll follow up here with the name of the brand of model paint when I get to work. |

| opps, guess i saw wrongly. The photo of the NX i saw on ebay wasn't that clear. But think the small word doesn't really matter that much if u are repainting the whole case. Think the problematic part may be the power button, cuz if u spray over the whole thing, the indicator light would be covered. The keyboard would also have to remain unsprayed due to the letters.

But wouldn't paint scratch 10 times easier than Clie's original finish, and look bad more quickly?
I wish the surface were not so slippery too.

You are right. My dream is a deep rich blue with a true automotive clearcoat over top of it. |

| well, not if u use the correct type of modelling paint and use an airbrush for a thin and even finish. And also forgot to mention that the old paint shld be sand-papered off so that the new paint will stick well to the CLIE and won't scratch off easily.

| kekeke, not a bad idea. but i still need to get an air brush and source for the correct gunmetal colour and good quality model paint. Or maybe i shld just sell my NR and get a NX73 that is black in colour.
