OK, someone mentioned the NX can take an NR screen. While I haven't tried that yet, I do know that the other way does NOT work. The NR is very washed out while using an NX display.

Hi,
If you are planning to replace a NR70 screen with NX70V / NX60 screen it works. However if you want to replace NR70V with NX80/NX73 screen you are out of luck. I tried it and screwed my NX80V because the number of pins on the ribbon cable for nx80v is less than the number of pins in nx70. By the way if you are into dismantling clies NX70 and 60 are the best to work with.

I wish the NX80 was available in the US. I would replace my wifes NX70 without hesitation. Well, guess I will get the NX repaired for half the cost of a new one. Bummer.

The NX80v is available in the US.

Hello,

I just started a new thread about my broken screen woes.

I notice a couple people here say they know how to replace NX70V screen.

Anybody who has done it care to confirm this, and outline the general steps taken to install new screen on NX70V?

Sony Canada has suggested a 450 dollar repair price on my unit ($50 dollars greater than current retail price of the NX70V)

I am looking into used models on ebay but so far they're pricey for the risk of buying used and shipping across the border (duties)

Right so if anybody would care to post instructions and suggest a location to obtain a replacement screen I would be delighted.

Dropped my nx70, the original 'Limited Edition' Grey model onto a stone step and c racked the glass. Got a replacement through my house insurance, but have still been unable to get a second screen......Which is a shame cos the grey model is nifty !

Try to get a NR70 or NX70 or NX60 and replace the screen with it. I have repaced not only screen but also batteries and a faulty CF slot of my NX 60. You just need to be patient. I gues get proper tools and try it on the next weekend. You can get a dead NX/NR in E-bay for 20-90 bucks.
