| SplashPhoto 3.6 supports HiRes fonts! WooHoo!
Jan. 24, 2003 - 3.6 Update:
Hi-res font support
Faster scrolling
Faster sorting in list view
Support for Sony jog-dial and Tungsten 5 way navigator
Selection retained in Browser, allowing you to start a Slideshow from the selected image
Slideshow will stop and handheld will turn off when handheld is removed from charging cradle
Option to hide progress bar during Slideshow
Don't display progress bar on ARM devices if JPEG decode happens quickly
Next JPEG image begins decoding/caching while viewing an image. If enough time elapses to completely decode the next image, it will show instantly when you press the page down hardware button.
Support for displaying JPEG attachments in Snappermail and Versamail
Support for beaming/receiving JPEG images in standard MIME format so you can beam a JPEG to a printer or receive one from your camera or cell phone
Exchange Manager support for beaming via Bluetooth, SMS, email, etc.
JPEG images received via a Beam (or an app like Snappermail) can be displayed (temporarily) when no VFS card present (e.g., Treo)
JPEG error messages are displayed (rather than a black screen)
Improved memory management (should allow really big JPEGs)
SplashPhoto category database, SPPhotoDB-SpPh.PDB, is now backed up. So if you do a hard reset, you won't lose your categories.
Faster SplashPhoto launch (skip image scan) when launched from another app (e.g., Snappermail or SplashPhoto SDK)

| Just tried it. Not really that much difference in terms of usage compared to version 3.54.
Personally find AcidImage's still better. |

| Got my update as well! I'm impressed. I like the random order of viewing slideshow! Hi-res thumnails is nice too. Being "vested" in SplashPhoto, I'm not interested in switching to AcidImage, although it is a fine product as well. I'm happy with the suite of Splash products I have with a combo discount.

I agree, Acid Image does have a few features I wish SplashPhoto would copy, such as support for a broader range of file types, zooming and large image support (useful for maps or getting up close and personal with your nudie images(scientific examination purposes, of course)) , the ability to keep photos in separate directories on MS (right now I have duplicate copies of .jpgs on my MS so I can both use them as ZLauncher Back Images and view them in SplashPhoto. Would be able to eliminate one copy with Acid Image). The main thing I like about Splash Photo over Acid Image (other than I have already paid for it) is the desktop. I love the simplicity of the desktop for converting any of the photos I've taken to jpg images suitable to use as back images and viewing on my Clie. I can frame, crop, adjust and convert and transfer several images in just the time it take for PhotoShop to load on my PC. |
