| NX Hotsync problem, please help. Hello,
I recently purchased my NX70, was hotsyncing OK for a week; then yesterday, I started having problem with craddle not communicating with PC, but restarting my PC solved that.
But then this new nagging "Hotsync operation was interrupted..." message shows up. The few threads on this particular problem went as far as reinstalling the Sony Clie Palm Desktop to solve the problem. I have tried reseting my NX, remove the Sony Clie Palm destop through add/remove and reinstal Palm desktop from Sony Clie CD several times, yet still have the problem.
Any one experienced with this problem did anything else differently to resolve the matter? It frustrating. Currently, I can't hotsync anything.
Thanks,
John

| Snowyowl,
Just tried with a different USB port. No luck. Still the same problem.
Mouthdrummer, I assumed you mean Window OS.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Best,

Changing USB ports probably won't do anything. Did you install anything recently like an external card reader, eternal USB drive, or printer?
The usual four issues are:
Damaged Clie due to static discharge.
Over-clocking.
Corrupted USB driver on the desktop PC.
Adding a new USB device such as mentioned above. |

| Larry,
I have an external USB 2.0 hard drive that I turned it off and on as I need it, but is has always been there (long before my NX).
I also have a USB 250Zip drive. Now that you mentioned, the icon of this drive usually showed up as a generic drive in "My Computer", but either since yesterday or the day before that, a unique 250Zip icon showed up. I didn't remember installing anything other than having to insert my XP CD to install Japanese characters. Could this have installed the 250Zip driver such that the generic icon now turned into a unique 250Zip drive icon?
As far as over-clocking, I have not tinker with it.
Now if the NX is damaged due to static discharge, would it have other problem as well? It works fine outside of this hotsync matter.
If my 250 Zip drive has anything to do with it, how and what can I do to fix it?
Thanks,
John |

Yes, I had a problem with my Iomega Zip250 drive. I fixed it by deleting/removing Iomega's Active Sync. BTW, the Zip drive still worked fine. Additionally it caused issues with installing my HP Photo Smart printer. I found my answer on HP's support site when I looked up an older Photo Smart printer. There I found a registry fix, then I was able to install my P1100 and P100 printers. I also had a problem with my Sony camera not installing either. All this because of Iomega.
BTW, I have two external USB2 Maxtors both used for backups. One is always running and it has no issues. If the card reader has been there for awhile, I don't think it is a source of your trouble. |

Thanks. That gives me hope.
With respect to "I fixed it by deleting/removing Iomega's Active Sync." How do you go about doing this? Please give me more detail instructions

I used the add/remove programs app in Control Panel.

| Larry,
I am sorry for asking for detailed questions. I just don't know enough to go from where you left off.
I was in add/remove apps in control pannel, but only saw "IomegaWare" and "Iomega App Services", but nothing in "Iomega's Active Sync". Could one of these two mean the same as "Iomega's Active Sync"?
Thanks,
John |

You could try to uninstall those if you have the CD to reinstall them. Below is an HS issue someone had with Win 2K. Win XP is based on the same basic platform and are very similar.
Windows 2000 has a problem with USB drivers from Sony for some reason. I have 3 computers here running Windows 2000, on one it installed all drivers automatically after plugging it in, on the other two it prompted me for drivers and then couldn't find any. They were all straight from the manufacturer, no other software on them yet.
However, for a more helpful solution you should do this. Uninstall the palm desktop. Then reinstall the palm desktop making sure that the USB driver is selected for install. Then install MS Export on your computer from the CD. Then run MS Import from your clie. Your system should detect a Sony mass storage device on your USB port. It should "Not" prompt you for drivers in this step. If this works, close MS Import on the your clie and then run the HotSync program from your clie; don't hit the button on the cradle. Windows should pop up with a new device then continue on the HotSync, where you select your user name for the first time, etc.

| Larry,
There might be a problem in the connection. I uninstalled and then reinstalled Clie desktop with USB Driver checked off. Installed MS Export. Then ran MS import from Clie, there is no detection of Sony Mass storage in my PC system. What may be going wrong now?
I really appreciate your help here.

#14 | | Guest | Iomega Acktive Disk Larry or any one,
I am having problem with hotsync connection again. Previously, I restart my PC, and it solved the "No connection error" message. Now, even after restart the PC, nothing seem to work.
Larry, you mentioned conflict with Iomega driver and "Iomega Active Sync" previously. Every time I try to hotsync, my zip drive activate (making a noise as if I am trying to use it) as well. Therefore, I assume the same conflict as you mentioned.
Now, I went into "Add/Remove Programs" but did not find any thing there as "Iomega Active Sync". However, just in "Control Pannel" window, there is "Iomega Active Disk". Now are these synonymous? If so, is there a way for me to get rid of this "Iomega Active Disk"? I right clicked on the icon, but it did not give me any delete option.
Thanks,
