Need input on SIM card readers/writers

I use T-mobile and I have been looking at devices that supposedly allow one to copy/modify/back up information stored on a SIM card.

Has anyone any experience with this?

If so, what advice or information can you give?

I believe that sim cards have limited information stored on them, chiefly to activate a phone.

You sure you can't store more on a SD car that some phones have? Give us a sample model in order to give you a more complete answer.

What got me interested in this is that recently I got an additional line activated with T-mobile. There are numbers stored on the SIM's quick-call list that I want taken off. T-mobile says they cannot remove them. One of them is directory assistance and the reason for it's being there is obviously to get more money out of my bank account. I know they are on the SIM because when the SIM is moved to another phone, the numbers appear there. In other words, those number follow the card.

Palm Treo 680; but, I really think the phone model is irrelevant.
