Driod X user misses his NX80V

I constantly compare my new Droid X to my old NX80V. Sure the "X" has a 1gig processor and does a few neat tricks like HDMI, but look at the time frame between the two units intro to the market.

I swear, if I could somehow incorporate a phone into the 80V, I would still be using it. it was so advanced for its time...my 8 meg pix droid camera cant take a front picture like the rotating camera on the 80V, and movies???Heck, the 80V could play any movie my droid can play! Oh and how about a calendar? the one on the Droid stinks; give me the DateBK 6 anyday. The 80V was sooo advanced for its day...SONY, where are you now?

I haven't checked into the forum for quite a while...is there any kind of phone connection I am not aware of for the 80V?

BTW, mine are for sale with all accessories (movie, unused earphone controllers, stereo player speakers, keyboard...the works!) You should see the two leather cases I have for them...beautiful!

I love the 80V!

Only thing I can think of is VoIP, or Voice over IP which is basically internet phone service.

I just wish there was some sort of support for a CompactFlash phone module (kinda like the VisorPhone for the older HandSpring devices) though...

There was a VOIP app available for some models of Cliè but only for testing purposes. Search for Articulation from Hampton Software Ltd.

I miss the cool and sleekness of the UX50 but I don't miss the battery life. I miss the magnesium alloy casing, I don't miss the small (buzzing) screen. It's a love-hate relationship with all tech really. You never get exactly what you want. If you do, it doesn't last very long because you use it so much.

Thanks for all the replies, appreciate your time. Probably best summed up by JAmerican...Love-hate relationship; true, you never DO get exactly what you want. My UX50 went in for an update and now recharges directly from the USB port ($75 for that and I never use it).

Could you just imagine what SONY would have now, had it remained in the PDA/smartphone market? Probably its own software, blowing the competetors away. iPhone? Nope, SONYSOFT OS !

Later...
