HotSync has encountered a problem and needs to close

I'm posting this here just on the chance there are some hangers-on like me still using Palm Desktop and HotSync.

From time to time over the years, I have had this error: "HotSync has encountered a problem and needs to close" or "HotSync Manager has encountered a problem and needs to close", depending on version.

I think I discovered something about this that, if discovered years ago, might have saved a lot of uninstalling and reinstalling, (which, by the way, did always fix the problem). This problem recently kept coming back almost daily.

Long story short, I discovered that if I deleted a chronically-reappearing file in the folder where my data is stored named HotSyncLog.raw.htm, the problem is corrected every time.

Good to know, thanks. It's been a while since I had one of these but know I have something to do besides curse while re-installing!

I'm sure it isn't the solution for every HotSync load failure; but, it worked for me. I noticed this problem was coming back almost every day. I also had a few instances where I would reload the program and the problem came back sometimes as soon as I put my user data back. That's when I figured there was something amiss in the user data folder. I knew the HTM file wasn't essential so I deleted it.

A simple HTM file was crashing HotSync.
