| New to 1src.com Hello All,
I've just joined here and want to admit right off the bat that I've done so with a specific purpose. I work with a company that sells software for both Palm and Windows Mobile. The software is for business class devices that include bar code scanning.
So In a nutshell, I figured it might be a good place to share special promotions as they come out. Let you guys know just in case someone is interested.
So yeah, bottom line is I'll be trying to sell stuff.
However, I do know that throwing ads out into a general forum can be bad web etiquette and I also understand why that's the case.
I expect it'll be pretty rare since we don't run specials all too often, but if bringing these specials to your attention is crossing a line, let me know. |

| In almost any post there is a bit of selfishness and ulterior motive. So long as you can do disclaimers like you work for a certain company, the reader can decide if it is too spamlike or crosses the line in self promotion.
It would be bad etiquette to not respond to comments here at 1src, however I can understand that a lot of answers and questions would be biased.

| Bottom line we love responsive developers and abhor the people who take our money and run. If someone offers a service, it better live up to the hype, be practical or even be useful to an idiot (or require the brain of a genius to figure out).
Unfortunately there will be good reports and bad reports here at 1src. If a company can't withstand scrutiny then it would be better if they don't post here.

Sounds fair to me. I would expect nothing less.
I'll provide a little background info here. Portable Technology Solutions provides data collection software for use on either the Palm or Windows Mobile Device. Although the product can be used on many different PDAs, you'll really only get the most out of it if you have a barcode terminal Like a Janam or Symbol/Motorola scanner.
The most common uses are for inventory management, asset tracking, field service/repair and mobile inspections, although there are many other uses. The software, called TracerPlus, is designed to be easy to use and customize for particular needs.
I'd say it lives up to the hype in that is works very well and is inexpensive compared to other software title in the same field. It doe sa good job of saving time an resources when compared to having workers go out and do a job, fill out any paperwork and then bring that back to be re-entered by data entry employees back at the office.
If nothing else, it removes extra steps, helps cut down errors and generally smooths out the workflow.
I will have to say one thing though (as I duck my head). Our Windows Mobile product does have more flexibility when compared to the Palm OS version. Figured I needed to mention that, but if anyone is looking for ways to help run mobile data collection operation better, both the Palm and WM products do the job well.
If anyone is curious, the website is www.ptshome.com . We also have a Yahoo group made up of customers. at http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/TracerPlus/ |

Well, It's been a far longer time than I'd planned, but we finally have that promotion I mentioned awhile back.
Now the funny thing (depending on your point of view of course) is that my company is actually offering savings on switching over to a Windows Mobile device.
Basically, It's geared toward people who are using old Palm devices for data collection. Barcode scanning mostly, but we can work with some other programs built for the palm to record data and bring it back to a database.
So if your looking to upgrade an old system, you buy the new Motorola devices, and the TracerPlus software and we'll take your old palm data collection program and port it over to work with your new PDA.
basically, we'll create a TracerPlus version that does what the old software did (and more, since its newer software).
so here's a link to the details. http://www.ptshome.com/pr/palm-to-w...ile-upgrade.htm
Feel free to let me know what you think of offers like this...even if you think its a bad idea.
I'll also repost this in it's own thread, just figure I'd tag it here as a reminder of when I first dropped by here.
