| Well gave it another go and ended up stalling and was stuck in stall spinning and at over 30K feet AND w/ target at near teh 10 mile mark
cant figure out what happened
(BTW) used screenshot for the FIRST time
Screenshot 0000 - all is good ready for the drop
Shot 0001 uh oh - stall
shot 0002 have NO IDEA what is happening but stall is flashing and nothing works not increasing thrust to afterburner nor decreasing to nothing
Also I dont believe that the "eject" works
ended up just exiting

| Hi,
According to the screenshot you had your jet nose way too high (around +70 degrees and angle of attack is max out at +45deg !) This is a great way to stall! You also need to know that engine thrust decrease with altitude (or more precisely with air density) So thrust is very high at low altitude but much lower at high altitude. The F-16 can go up to 50K but it is not a standard altitude since thrust is much lower. I should probably add the actual engine thrust on the SYS display.
So yes you do not want to have such high nose level unless you are trying to get at high altitude fast. You lose too much energy (energy vs altitude kind of deal) and you be will nailed by a SAM!
Stall can happen at any speed but tend to happen when your nose is high. When that happen your best bet is to lower your nose and descent at fast rate to gather some speed. The flight computer already detects that if your angle of attack is too high and take control of the elevators. But the flight can do so much. Once your speed is too low then the computer will basically give up since none of the flight surfaces (ailerons, rudder, elevators) works anymore in stall mode.
By the best way to lower your nose in this situation is not just simply pushing the stick forward (D-pad UP) but to actually rotate your jet upside down and then pull the stick (D-Pad DOWN) This will bring your nose down without having to deal with negative G (red screen blackout) Pilot do not like -G since they are more sensitive to them (max + G around 9G but max -G is only about -5G) This technique also preserve your jet energy so you do not lose as much speed than if you simply push the stick forward to descent.
Hope this help. You are learning quite a lot!
Mo.
ps: Yes sorry i forgot to mention that "eject" button only works when doing a full combat mission. In that situation using eject terminate the mission and allocate you mission points lower than if you had actually landed after destroying all the targets (%) For all other situation use the Exit button to go back to the splash screen.

Are you guys experimenting any resets issues? Mostly at exit or eject... I have a beta tester with a Treo 650 who has a lot of issue with the latest version (1.6b)
Please let me know when you get a chance.
Thank you guys.
ps: Are you making any progress in getting promoted? |

| hey Mo I played it quite a bit this weekend and worked through 2 more bombing missions - one hit no problems and the other just kept flying past the target - not sure what I did wrong - screenshot was disabled so coupdnt get a shot but was at 19k feet blue line right down the middle and the red targeting area there too and it came closer and closer together until they met right and then the target was past me.
Have had only 2 resets and thaty were both during the landing simulator and the mission with SAMS at exiting BUT im still at version 1.5b

| Thank you very much rdiheath for the quick reporting. Are you sure your ARM button was on (weapon armed)? In the heat of the action sometimes I forget to press that button while the red little line goes down thru the HUD. Since the fire computer decide when to drop the bomb (your job is to aim your jet correctly) the computer need your "consent" to drop the bomb. Just a suggestion...
In term of resets, then you do not want version 1.6b!! It seems that I may have introduce a bug that seems to trigger more resets. I am working on version 1.7b which I hope will fix the issue.
Thanks again for the prompt answer. Good luck on your flying!

| thanks and Ill stay then with 1.5b as it really is liveable and intermittant. That very well may be - does it turn off at any point on its own, say if you stall or something? Just curious as I have had it turned on from startup on all other missions. Then again I could very well have forgotten it

| Thank you. Yes 1.5b is your best bet right now. In term of the ARM button, that just a suggestion. It may or may not be the issue. Having say that, the ARM button do turn itself off if the "fire computer" determine that there is no chance to hit the target (in term of timing) It will disengage if for instance the jet passes the point where a drop will be a miss because given the altitude and speed the bomb will hit the ground pass the target. I need to relook at the actual rule I put on the "fire computer" but I believe there are some condition where the ARM button will automatically turns itself off. So you should always look at the ARM status before a strike.
Thanks again. |

| Cool! Nice to hear about the resets. I am going back and work from 1.5b since it is much more stable.
Love the support! Thanks.
Mo.
EDIT: Still looking for few more good men/women to beta test ViperOne! PM your email address and device type and I will send you the game/user guide right away. The reason I need more people is that the game has many moving parts. I need help in flushing out problems with the missions. It takes work to finish all the missions and see how the game react. Is it giving you the correct rank promotion? Is the points allocated correctly?....THANK YOU.

| Well... about promotion, for me is hard because I restore a backup every week, and I loose my score every time I do that !
For that I have a question: Where is the score/data being saved, what document/database contains the score ?
I need to know that so I can save it !
And about the score, I don't know how it is given, but when I destoyed a Nuclear (one shot 0%), it gave me 300 points .
Today I managed to land (see screenshots) ! And it's extremely hard !
PS: I didn't knew I could post images as PNG, and it shows exactly how the game looks like on my device (especially the color) ! JPG sucks ! |

| Thanks hagakure! You made it to a landing. Congrats because it is not easy to do. Most of the time I crash because it demands quite a bit of concentration.
In term of scoring, I need to look into it again but what recall is the point you get depend on the how precise your bombing is as well as the type of target you hit and the game level you choose. You also get bonus points if you check the boxes, enable wind, failures or if you are attack by enemy SAM.
My understanding is that each Palm app has it own database where it saves its data. When you delete the app, you delete the database. I will try to get you the name of the database if I can.
Thank you for the great screenshot. Yes PNG is great for that.
THANK YOU for the great feedback! I am coming back to 1.5b and work from there since 1.6b is very buggy for some reason.

When I restore a backup, I am not deleteing the app because I have it on the SD card. The backup restores what I had in the ROM when I made that backup, that means that the game creates a database (.pdb I think) in my phones memory and this is deleted not the app. I must know the name of the database that the game creates, I tried searching viperone, but only the app has that name ! I hope you can find it ! |

| Thanks for v1.56b !
•The resets are now gone, but now when I hold a button pressed to much time, or when I exit or enter a mission, or even when I finish a mission, for some reason it gives me an error. It does not happen very often, but I have to reset my device when it shows the error, because when I want to exit the game its showing me the error over and over again until I perform a reset ! However during one game when the error appeared I managed to make it disappear by trying to control the plane !
•I know this is to late but it would have been great that when you crash and when you've been hit by a missile the phone could vibrate !
•I also tried to see the promotions, and in about 2 hours I promoted 3 times ! =)
•Last thing: do you have any advice in avoiding the missiles ("hard" combat mode) ? |
