| NVBackup NEW backups aren't working (blank) I posted in other threads about how wonderful my new card is and that everything is going smoothly - WRONG! I apologize if I misled anyone, but when I was first looked all I noticed was that after a month of NVB not finishing a backup, it seemed to finish fine. To my utter dismay when I opened one of the backups to check it there were NO files in the set!!! If I do any new backup, either scheduled or manually, it finishes and is blank, on the other hand if I do an update it works fine (although there is no log file).
So new backups DON'T work, updates DO work.
I'm stymied as to the cause. |

I had the same problems with my 8Gb ADATA card on my TX with NVBackup.
1st backup -- finished with errors but the set is empty.
I ran it again: still errors and still empty set.
I ran it the third time: now it created files on the card, but the card acquired a bunch of cluster errors as the subsequent chkdsk indicated.
I just gave up on NVBackup at that point..

I hoped this was just me so there would be a solution. I wonder what the difference is between a new backup, which doesn't work even though it says it does, and an update that does work?????? Since other backup apps seem to be working fine (I checked this time), could it be that NVB doesn't play well with SDHC?
Maybe Alex or Dmitry will chime in? <cyberdude hopes, as he looks longingly at his TX which is not acting nicely> |

| Weird. I don't have any problems with NVBackup and either existing or new backups on my Treo 755p. I currently use a 8 GB microSDHC card from Kingtson (via a miniSD adapter). Which version of NVBackup are you using (I use 1.21).
Cheers. |

Maybe that's because the 755p supports sdhc cards natively. The TX needs the SDHC driver from Dmitry. I guess that means there is something with the interaction of the driver and NVB.
BTW, I use NVB 1.22b6 and have had few problems with it on non sdhc cards, using the SDHC driver, and virtually no problems on the same cards without the driver? Could this be a driver issue - HELP Dmitry! |

| Same here, no problems with updating, new backups, selective or full restores. Centro + 4GB microSDHC.

Wow. I was not even aware that a version newer than 1.21 exists. So I did some research and found a version NVBackup 1.22b9 Perhaps this would solve this problem? |

| Hi again, Cyberdude :-)
I assume you tested it with warpspeed switched off ;-)
Althought problems of mine (solved) were completely different ...

gregt3

| Well, let me chime in again
First of all, I had a 4GB card for almost a year and I had no problems with backups or anything.
As soon as I upgraded to an 8GB card + SDHC, the problems started.
So, I believe that we need to compare experiences only for cards >=8 GB.
I am on my second 8GB card now and I am disgusted. They simply don't work in the palm. Besides all the errors during backups (with any backup software), all of a sudden, the card just goes Kaput! and loses all the data.
I don't really care much for lifetime warranties if all I am getting is a piece of junk replacing another piece of junk.
So, I am switching back to 4 GB Ridata card, which has not failed me once
(and waiting for a miracle..)

I haven't tested with warpspeed off yet. Will do this weekend. I did find another interesting thing, since I changed the warpspeed settings to 468 for sys default the manual updates are no longer working either!
Contrary the experiences of vovka1965, I have not had problems with either Backupman or Resco Backup Pro on my 16gb a-data card with SDHC driver (of course).
It should be noted that chiming in here saying that your centro or treo work fine, although interesting, is not helpful since these devices, AFAIK, support SDHC natively and therefore do not use the PowerSDHC driver from Dmitry. |

| I just tested mine and it is doing fine with NVBackup 1.21 (since updates are usually more bug fixes than new features, I take the if it ain't broke don't update philosophy). I even did a new backup and restore to confirm. This is with the Adata Class 6 16Gb card, which has been flawless for me. I checked all my backups going back to October (before the PCB replacement).
Everything is working fine. |

Is this on your TX? If so I'll be going back to 1.21 to check out if it works on my setup. |
