TImeDrift - keep your Centro / Treo clock accurate

Dear Readers,
it's finally time to say farewell to inaccurate Centro/Treo clocks. Don't ask me why Palm decided to save a few cents by omitting the reset button from its latest smartphones...we can be sure that they saved a few cents on your expense.

Tamoggemon TimeDrift fixes the problem and allows you to reset your handheld without that highly annoying time drift of up to a full hour:

A free 30-day evaluation version can be downloaded from http://www.tamoggemon.com/palmos/tidr/index.html - the full version currently costs 7.95$ (usually 9.95$) and can be purchased in the TamsShop (http://www.mobihand.com/tamspalm/pr...115&n=TimeDrift)!

A big thank you goes out to the beta team!

We need a clock FAQ section. Here is one good post on TX clocks:
http://www.1src.com/forums/showthre...ighlight=clocks
And it gives you various programs that has clocks.

Why is time important? After PIM data the clock function is probably the second most used function.

If you are a scientist or a sportsperson, the stopwatch program would come in handy.

If you are a businessman, your clock needs to be accurate to the minute.

If you are a "James Bond" person accuracy to the seconds may be necessary.
-------------------------------------------
How accurate is your PDA? Well I syncronized my TH-55 and TG-50 within five seconds and will try to report back here on how close they remain synchronized.

I've not noticed any time problem with my 755p or am I missing something?

If you set the time in Prefs to be adjusted by the cell company, it will adjust automatically after a reset or on Power On.

Regards,

I don't have a smart phone but I'd be interested in hearing if your phones are synchronized to the second like other cell phone company phones.

----------------
Looks like my TH-55 and TG-50 are within seconds for the first day of testing. I wonder if there are other ways that make a pda off of the real time? Also I wonder how accurate my PSP clock really is?

My Treo always has the correct time, the same as my computer. That's one of the nice things about combining phone with PDA.

If this works for you, then your carrier has a working time server.

Unfortunately, many carriers dont have working time servers...which is where TimeDrift comes in!

I coded this because both my Treo and my girls Centro have such a problem on fu**en T-Mobile of fu**en Austria (their time server sucks *** and always is wrong)...

My 700P on Sprint is usually within a few seconds of the time AtomClock gets from a network time server. I think once I saw about a 12 second discrepancy, but normally it's within two seconds (and it's not like AtomClock is perfect, due to network delays).

OK. But when traveling, you have roaming costs, while TImeDrift is a completely local solution(!!!) requiring no network or phonage!

P.S. Version 2 of TimeDrift will add NTP support!

I only have roaming costs when I leave the country. :-) But, yes, doing it right in the phone without a network is quite cool. Does it work on other non-phone PDAs?

Hi,
if you have a PDA with an exchangeable battery (aka a CLIE), then yes IMHO but its untested.

For all other drifts, we gotta wait till v2...

P.S. Forgot to add: thanks for the praise
