| Treo 680: prevent accidental keypress The Keyguard thing on the Treo 680 being a joke, I was looking for an alternative solution. I tried several 3rd party programs that prevent the Treo from switching on when accidental keypresses occur, like when you carry it in your pocket. They all work well, but only if the phone is switched off, which makes them pretty useless. When the phone is on, the device still swiches on after two or three hardkeys are pressed.
I guess the programs I tested (PocketProtector, BTTogglePro, AutoOff, ...) were made for PDA's, not Treo's. Does anybody know of a program that works well with the Treo 680?
Many thanks in advance.

(Tho I gotta admit, I'm kinda confused by "When the phone is on, the device still switches on... :-?)

| That's different - haven't seen the radio causing n e difference in how well (or poorly) keyguard replacements work.
Have you tried Butler tho? To me it definitely has the best keyguard handling

| Yes, tried Butler, to no avail. I now just did a hard reset and the problem's gone. I tried pocketProtect, it works, even with cell radio on. But I installed BTToggle, and this utility comes with similar built-in button protector, which now works fine too, so I'm using that one right now.
I'm now setting up my Treo from scratch, installing my favorite apps, one by one, backing up after every new app, and constantly checking if the problem comes back...
... to be continued :-)

| I think I got it figured out. It seems to be a timing problem. A lot of apps register to receive hardkey events from the OS (in PalmInternals, these apps show up under "hede"). These applications have a very negative impact on the speed of the Treo 680, resulting in unreliable behavior of any keyprotecting program (I prefer PocketProtector, but the same thing happens with all similar tools).
ZLauncher, SnapCalc, HiLauncher, PowerHero, SoundOff hack, TopSelectText, TopNaviText, they all slowed down my Treo. I got rid of most of them (only HiLauncher remains, can't live without it:-)) and now PocketProtector is much more reliable.

| Ah - ok. Indeed, apps using hede do often have/cause adverse system effects (basically taking shortcuts, although at times it is actually necessary), although many times there are configuration options to get around certain issues. Glad you've been able to get some stabilty tho

| Keepoff I came across KeepOff 1.5 and uploaded it to the freeware section. it's the only keyguard replacement that seems to work well on the Treo 680. Here's a link.
