| How can I get Shrek onto my Clié? I heard some people were able to compress videos and fit them onto their 128MS. I would like to put my Shrek DVD onto my Clié can anyone tell me any previous threds where this is described or tell me how. That would be nice, but maybe again it's not possible.

| Even if I don't fit the whole film that's ok... maybe 60 minutes of it...

| It's been a while, but I think the settings I used in Kinoma were:
320x240
160K/sec video
8 FPS
16K mono sound (Clie audio)
Final size was around 115MB.
I trimmied the credits off the end to save space.
My source file was a Quicktime. I ripped it from the disc to a huge AVI file, then cropped & re-sized it to 320x240 and encoded it to Quicktime at 100% quality. That files was, (hmm... wonder if I still have it... yep) about 2.2GB in size.
Th reason I use Quicktime is that Kinoma can't encode an AVI larger than 1GB, but will encode a Quicktime of any size.

| thats my next Endeavor..right now Im encoding a lot of music videos to my Clie (using TMPEGEnc then Kinoma). With movies I need to make sure I got enough space on MY HD when I decode the DIVX version of the movie to the MPEG-1 format Kinoma uses..
If you have AOL Joe..lets talk..

| I tried The Art of War...But after about 12 hours of watching Kinoma not move an inch, I gave up...I used Smartripper to rip the dvd, which took about 6 hours I think...Then TMPEGenc to switch it to an MPG. The MPG is now about 556mb...just didn't have the patience to convert it with Kinoma...should it take as long as it was taking for me? Or was I doing something wrong? |

| A quicker way to convert from DivX to a Kinoma compatible format is to use Virtualdub with ONmedia's VP3 codec (freeware). It takes a fraction of the time TMPEnc takes, and all of the resizing and or cropping can be done in one step.
Enjoy |

| yeah Yuriv..or anyone else thats willing to help..can u help With What Joes saying?
I use TMPEGenc myself and its constipated-turtle slow! I tried to use VirtualDub but it gave me a bit of a headache trying to change my Divx movie to somethign Kinoma can use (I suppose it would have to be Quicktime because Kinoma cant convert over 1gb AVI files..)...can kinoma convert over 1GB MPEG-1 files tho?
I think its time that someone put up the procedure to do this so that we dont need to always ask about how to convert it and rather HOW TO TRADE the Kinoma results of our labors. Right now I have a lot of Music Videos in kinoma format and theyre sweet looking (about 15MB each but still fun)
what do you say?

That's a link to a step-by-step tutorial for ripping DVD and converting to MPG. Now there's no mention of Kinoma Producer on here, but this is at least the first half of the process of getting a movie on your Clie... |
