| Good 80s Playlist Hey guys, I'd normally ask this in a different forum, but I feel 1src may be able to help me
What I'm looking to make is a playlist for pTunes that has the "stereotypical" 80s mod/new wave sound.
I'm not sure where to start, it's for a friend's graduation present; care to help?
so far, I've
Blue Monday - New Order
Cars - Gary Numan
Sex (I'm a) - Berlin
THe Metro - Berlin
No Spill Blood - Oingo Boingo
from my own collection but don't know any others.
Please help me out, by commenting in on my blag, http://wanton.dyndns.org/blag/2008/...-good-new-wave/
If that link doesn't work, don't bother telling me, cause when I fire up my laptop to check this post (if I turn it off, that is) I'll know and it'll work again

| If you look at the playlists for each of these CD's... this should bring back the Totally Tubular memories:
Living In Oblivion : The 80's Greatest Hits, Vol. 1-5
I like Internet Radio which feature certain genres. One good place to find Palm oriented stations is: http://tunes.mobi
A general locator of Internet Radio Stations locally, around the world and any genre... http://radio-locator.com
Once you plug in and hear them, you'll come up with a playlist real fast.
Hope it helps! |

| They don't quite stick to your genres, but you can take the 80's songs from the Rolling Stones top 100 songs of the 20th century list and the songs from the top of the Billboard charts in the 80's as starting places.
Personally I'd add a bunch of stuff by A-ha, Tears for Fears and Depeche Mode to your list, but I don't know that that's exactly the sound you're going for.
You could also check http://www.nwoutpost.com; they also cover punk and alternative music, but for the most part you should be able to separate those out.
Also, check out this list: http://www.digitaldreamdoor.com/pag...ngs-newave.html
I can't believe I forgot about Frankie Goes to Hollywood!

| Here's some more:
Walk Like an Egyptian - The Bangles
99 Luftballons (99 Red Baloons) - Nina
I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For - U2 (not sure if this counts, but I'd add it)

| Thanks _Em Nice place to start I'll get looking.
Basically what I'm looking for is the really stereotypical 80s sounds, like some of this stuff; my friend is really bothered by the music so I'll give him a good time
Nyah, spambots be stealing my reply notifications. >

| Oh, if you want annoying stereotypical 80's music, I should generate another list... you want stuff by Vanilla Ice, Milli Vanilli, etc. I thought you wanted the ones that were actually worth listening to!
(Just use my other suggestion then and pull songs from here).
Sample (1984):
When Doves Cry - Prince & The Revolution
What's Love Got To Do With It - Tina Turner
Say Say Say - Paul McCartney/Michael Jackson
Footloose - Kenny Loggins
Against All Odds (Take A Look At Me Now) - Phil Collins
