| Simple, get Limewire and download the ones that you legally own. That would be the partially illegal way. However, if you can, just burn them to disc and rip them back to a format without drm. Why are you posting this here though, there are other forums with better support for this. |

| Thanx Bla8 for your advise and regarding the fact that I posted on this forum, honestly, I posted this on other forums, too, cause I'm really desperate and I don't want to lose all my music. So, like you, I received some advices, many of them to burn the music on a CD and then to rip them back. But, I guess this is not quite legal. Others told me that Tunebite can remove the DRM protection legally. So, I'm still waiting for other opinions. I saw that there are many tools which can remove DRM and I'm willing to spend some money on a good tool in order to save my musics |

| Actually, burning to disc and then ripping back is totally legal, downloading songs or sharing them on the internet is not. As long as you legally own them, you can burn 'em, rip 'em and use 'em completely and utterly worry free, no one will sue you. Just don't distribute the songs to 500 people.
Edit: Actually using software to remove DRM directly is illegal, so don't use tunebite. Just go to Windows Media Player and select the song you want to burn to disc (You might only be able to burn one song a few times, most likely 5).

| Just a further clarification on what's (il)legal:
In the USA, Bla8 is correct: the legal way to do it is to burn to CD and rip back to PC.
In the UK (and, I think, Australia), this is illegal. There is NO legal way to make copies of music. Even copying from your registered PC to your PDA is illegal IIRC.
In Canada, you can legally make a copy from another legal copy. You cannot, however, distribute copies; only originals. Downloading is a gray-area, but has most recently been ruled legal (uploading [distributing] is illegal).
Other countries' laws may vary. Check to see what method is legal in your country if you care about copyright legality in this case -- otherwise, just do the thing with the least amount of risk (which means not involving third parties -- burning to CD and re-ripping).

Hy guys,
Just wanted to tell you that I'm using Tunebite and it is legal. When I saw your statements, I made a search on tunebite's legality and I found this link. I hope that this will be helpful for you. Besides that I think it is a good tool |

| Well, whatever method works best for you, as long as you have paid for the songs I don't a reason that should stop you from removing the DRM if its for personnel use. DRM is more of a punishment for legal consumers than anything else.
Tunebite itself is legal as it captures the raw audio output and simply saves it as a new file. However, do be aware that others crack the drm system to get unprotected songs in which case they are "stolen". |

| Actually, Bla8, it is for personal use, as I was planning to get another PC and my big problem is that I have to get license for each song and as I said I have a lot of music bought from their store. That's why I'm so desperate in getting a tool hopping that I can remove that DRM protection at more that one song. |

| As I mentioned before: legality depends on your location for all of these tools. AFAIK, cracking DRM is only illegal in the US and Australia -- but there are other laws that can also get broken in the duplication of audio files.

| Actually, it isn't illegal if you remove the DRM protection for personal use, only if you want to share your music with other persons. I'm using Tunebite for removing it and so I can transfer all my music on my ipod. |

| I searched about this Tunebite and I saw on other forums that it can remove the DRM protection from 9 files in the same time. I've tried its demo version, it is a good soft. I guess I'll buy it. |

Yes, it can remove DRM protection to more than one, I never tried with 9 but with 6 yes... Much more, the quality after conversion is great.... |

[in the USA]
It isn't illegal in the US to remove DRM for personal use, but it IS illegal to tell others how to do it or to distribute/download/link to tools whose primary purpose is to facilitate DRM circumvention. Of course, that part of the DMCA usually only gets pulled out as part of a larger lawsuit... but it's still illegal. If you are able to circumvent DRM yourself without any targeted outside help (instructions or custom tools), it's legal.
Anyone who can do that however doesn't need this thread.

| Ok, I'm telling to other person the way I remove the DRM protection cause there are a lot of person who don't know how to get rid of that copy protection, for their use and not for sharing. As for example I take this AllieB who bought a lot of music from that MSN music site and now when the site will be turned off he may lose all his music cause all is DRM'ed in case he will change his PC. So, yet I think that this thread is very useful for persons who don't know much about computers or this kinds of software.
I use tunebite to remove the copy protection and also to convert the files into the format I need so I have all my music on other music devices, too. So, I think that having a such a tool is very useful for, repeat, personal use. |
