Or maybe a command-bar stroke (like B). |
Actually Opera Mini has a menu not accessible from System menu, it is also a kind of not-reachable screen button. No command-bar stroke either. Thanks for your suggestions. |

At first thought, it seems to overlap with the Menu action, because most command-strokes are mentioned in Menus, but I suppose it doesn't necessarily have to be so. |
Well, all the stroke-then-letter shortcuts are shortcut to menu (top) bar items, aren't they ? In which case they are all accessible via the existing menu action.
Tapping a command bar (bottom one) icon might be useful sometimes, I will look but I don't think there's
an easy way to do it.

Don't know how the java interaction goes.
I've never used bird, but yes it must be part of a form resource for Apt to use it.

| Is it possible to trigger a Backspace tap with a hard button ? It may solve my issue. I did not find in the manual how to trigger a letter tap with a HB either. |

You are right. The start box of the up stroke was the end box of the down stroke and vice versa.
I hope you only included the check for the relative strokes as the fixed ones work pretty well with my setup. |

In principle it should be OK with the check too, but let me know after next release and I'll restrict the relative strokes if necessary.

How will backspace help ?
I will add simulation of a (short) character string as an action, don't know how that slipped through the net.
Actually, what will probably help you best is pen tap simulation, right ? i.e. press HB, it pretends you tapped over the Back button.

It would certainly help, thanks! |

Latest version Apt .9a
Still having problems with hard buttons not responding how I want.
I started over with clean install and left out all my apps background that can interfere with buttons.
DateBk6 on HB2 with prefs in DateBk6 set to cycle views on HB2, still will not change views with a single press. There are no Apt prefs that I have set that conflict with that requirement.
Worse still, the chosen button presses of DA's while in DateBk6, using hold 2 and 3, just flicker briefly on screen before returning to the default app.
I am sorry Pent, because this has so much promise, but I have to return to my previous set up. However I will keep testing future releases, and hopefully one day it will do what I really hoped.
I will keep watching this thread and the further development of Apt with interest.
Regards
Andy
ps.@ technical1, thanks for the posts above. I had already tried all that you suggested being a palm veteran, but I appreciate the thoughts.

1) I presume the existing 'menu' button trigger is not what you want. Is it a hard button ?
2) if the app sells a reasonable amount, I will look at the treo APIs.

Sorry I know you've written about this before but would take me ages to find. Some questions:
- do you mean you assign datebk6 to HB2 with apt, and expect it to first take you to the app, then cycle through the views ?
-OR without an Apt assignment of any kind, DateBk6 doesnt do what it does when Apt is disabled ? Quote:

Just in DateBk6 ?

I'll see if I can find the code. It doesn't help that you don't see the buttons in the simulator, and nothing tells you which PC keyboard key simulates a press of which Treo button.

| Pent,
the lock triggers (cool feature!) are per-app. If I set them in *Defaults*, I expect that every app launch will have to be cleared with the specified triggers, right? Perhaps this is not very useful...
What I was wondering was if these could be set up as a system lock. That's what I use in my TX normally, I have it locked after 20 minutes inactive, the I unlock it and I have no further locks for any apps. I wonder if Apt-locks in *defaults* could substitute the current system lock. OR...
If there was a system turn-on event I guess I could do it with a bit of a workaround: I would set the system turn-on event to launch some app (say QuickTour ) and set up the trigger locks there. Then I would set up the post launch event in QuickTour to take me to my Launcher or "Back" to the previous app.
(I believe the current "Wake" event is not the system turn-on event, right?)

Think so. Was planning to use them as the lock for Apt itself thought. Quote:

<snip> |
Perhaps most flexible would be to define a 'lock' action (that uses the *Default* lock triggers). Then you can connect any trigger to it (e.g. system wake). There would be no 'fail' though, you'd just have to keep trying until you got it right. You'd have to attach the lock action to reset as well of course. Quote: |

Think it's some hardcoded silly mishmash of any button/pen trigger I accept. Will look see what wakeup events are offered by system, would be better.
Do you have to slip Quick Tour into *every* post BTW
:-)

| Taps and buttons I'd like to set up a button (the Cntr button on my Zodiac) to imitate a screen tap (specifically in Agendus to tap "New.." icon in the bottom left of the screen). Is there a way to do this with Apt? I've tried everything I can think of, but haven't found a way.
BTW: this is a great app. It makes my PDA seem like a brand new toy - I mean tool again.
THANKS!!! |
