| Internet on Tungsten E I have a Tungsten E that I have been using happily, but I was wondering about the ways that I can get Internet on it, wireless or otherwise. I've looked at several Wi-Fi cards, but none of them seem to support the Tungsten E, and I haven't found any programs for accessing the Internet through a computer. Programs like AvantGo are fine, but I want real, live Internet. Thanks for any help that you can give. |

| Connecting to a cellphone via IR, or maybe an Enfora Wi-Fi sled (if one was made for the Tungsten E) is about it, I think. I went the phone/IR route for a while with mine, but pretty much had to have the TE plugged in the whole time or the already not-so-great battery life took a big hit. |

| IMO, the Tungsten E wasn't really made to be a big workhorse of a PDA. It had a thin battery, less memory, a very basic serial port, and was even kinda skimpy on apps. So basically it was a no-nonsense, less-expensive, basic PDA to get people into owning PDAs.
New software like the ZLauncher allows you to free up the memory to run the big apps, but the Tungsten E still lacks the communication ability to connect to useful things like an SD-based WiFi bard, but you can still use the IR and serial modems.
Palm probably wanted owners of the Tungsten E to move up to an E2 or a TX when they wanted real PDA power.
fwiw
thx

| The T|E was launched the same day as the T|3. It is an economy model, whereas the Zire 31 launched around the same time is an entry level model. As an economy model, it was not designed to be a wireless workhorse.
There was an Enfora WiFi case made that works with the T|E. If you're lucky you might find one on ebay. Otherwise your browsing will be limited to an infrared cellphone or hooked to your computer via the sync cable.
Edit: First sentence corrected, having had TXes for many months I haven't typed T|E very often.

| You probably meant TE, not TX.
I agree, it was a middle-end PDA, it was intended for those people who wanted something better than entry level and didn't want to spend lots of money on the flagship model, or simply didn't need all of the high-end functions.

| You could probably get a bluetooth SD module to work with the TE; then you could connect to a phone/computer via this method. To connect to a computer you'd need PPPd running on the computer side; every OS except Windows has this built in, and I know someone posted a piece of software on here a year or so back that enabless PPP connections to Windows.
