| Fastlaunch 1.00 for Treo/Centro It's finally released! If you sent me a bug report for a beta test, email me at arpruss at gmail dot com for a free reg code (tell me your 1src username in your email). http://mobihand.com/product.asp?id=17008
- Quickly launch an application (or Desk Accessory) just by holding down the first letter, which gives you a list of all the applications starting with that letter.
- Pop up an application on top of another application by pressing Option and then holding down the first letter. After the popped up application is finished, you can return to exactly where you were in the original. Normally PalmOS only allows one application to run at once. (Not compatible with all application pairs.)
- Tap on-screen buttons in some applications just by pressing the first letter of the button.
- Includes four free Desk Accessories that you can use with FastLaunch and other Desk Accessory launchers: PrintIt (print screen to compatible tcp/ip network printer), ScreenDumpDA (save screenshot to SD card), NightMode and Reset.

| Great stuff Alex.
Even though Keycaps makes launching almost unusable, I love the ability to launch SoundRec and press R to record and S to stop.
Worth the price for that alone.

| If you use the option+hold launching, it should work with keycaps.

Yes it does, but I like one handed navigation (I can only work with FastLaunch by using two hands to operate my Treo 650.)
With the other hand I can.......well, use the grey cells there |

Yes, this is on purpose, since it is not unlikely that that is the app you want to run, so if it is, you can just press the center button.

For those of us who like one-handed operation and use KeyCaps, is it possible to implement something akin to the way I use Petit Launcher. I have PL set up so that I press (and release) Option key, then Hard Key 4. The launch dialog then pops up on screen.
So FL could then work like this: Press Option, then HK 4, then press the letter on the keyboard to bring up program list. It would be one extra press but it would be workable. Also, if the key didn't have to be held down, rather only pressed, then it wouldn't take any longer to launch.
Just a few thoughts |

| Alex,
I downloaded the trial of fastLaunch, and here are some bugs I found.
1/ Even if disable in phone app is checked, there is way to make fastLaunch work within phone app.
When you launch the treo phone app, you can go to your contacts or phone records using tabs.
Ok, if you launch all this ensemble through the phone application button or hardware button, fastLaunch will be disabled.
But if you launch "contact" and then go to the phone part via the tabs, fastLaunch will launch, though disabled.
2/ Either disabled or not in phone app, if you launch the phone app "on top" and try to find a contact, it resets the device.
Anyway, it's a great improvement of the treo, and the ability to find a contact and dial his number via fastLaunch would be a much greater improvement.

My question is because I use to use typeright that is useless with FL but it still have the contact dialing .
I tried to works both & there is a launching time very similar.
Maybe you can put a setting with FL to change launching time but of course Typeright can do this to!
The problem is when you have both launching together FL is the last to appear but progs are not launching!Who knows why?
Maybe something can be done?

Here's an idea: one of the options for the letter P (say) is "Contacts starting with P".
Or maybe an option to just lump those contacts into the menu?
Or maybe two lists side by side, one of apps and the other of contacts?
Other ideas?

Just my toughts! |
One problem is lack of space. Except with a small font, it would be hard to fit. And each contact may have more than one entry--multiple numbers to choose from. I am not sure how to arrange it.

| One list, swithing with right and left seems good.
Regarding the contacts with more than a number (or mail), I think they should be displayed only once (to spare space in the list). It's only when selected with the central button that a windows should pop up with all the numbers and mails to be selected and used. Just my two pennies to improve this outstanding app... |

| Thanks Pruss for the great program.
Here is my suggestion for your reference.
* Is it possible to add "black list" for known application with issue on "On Top" mode. I'd like to set "Launch apps on top" feature as default but I don't want to let known apps to crash my treo 680.
Thanks for your great support. |

| Ok, I go on with my bug list.
A/ pocket tunes (basic 3.0.9) has a peculiarly weird behavior when launched on top.
Quite logically when launched on top is on, and when a song is playing, an attempt to return to the launcher resets the device. Quite logical, in fact. That leads me to support Chenhanyl's proposition (which I would have I made if I came earlier !)
But what is strange is that when launched on top, it reverts my version from basics to the one that comes bundled with the device. Weird.
But weirdest: after that, even when launched through the ptunes icon in the launcher, it remains the bundled version. If I want back my basic version, I need to reenter my reg code.
However, ptunes should be added to the black list, should you agree, Alex, to add one.
B/ the key-based button tap function doesn't always properly intercept the use of the letter by another function. I am not sure I am clear.
I sometimes use Filez. When exploring the alphabetically sorted files in device and SD card, you can press a letter to jump directly to it. When the key-based button tap function is on, it should go directly to the pressed letter and ignore the "close", "send".... button at the bottom of the screen. But not only it makes filez jump to a wrong letter (sometimes, F goes to M, but C goes to C), but it also activates the button (C indeed close the window).
I use Filez 6.8.3 which is the latest released version I heard of.

| Apps that do background processing are typically not compatibles with launching on top.
Filez has a minor bug in this regard. I have a fixed version of Filez that I could post, I guess.
