PStart USB menu app configuration problem

History: I started out with the Portaableapps.com menu went to lupo pensuite, then on the recommendation of some members here, I retried pstart (which I had tried in passing). Pstart is a great launcher for your USB. I've configured mine quite a bit and the pstart.xml file (config file) has 1,171 lines and is 46k.

The problem: Everything was going fine until yesterday. After I made a config change - added an app, the next time I put my stick in the usb port I got an error message that said there was an error in pstart. It first said that it was expecting a </files> tag in, IIRC, line 384. Then it said do I want to fix this by going back to the default values. Whether I answer yes or no to this it reverts to the default. Luckily I have a backup of my whole stick, including the xml file so I just copy it back to the stick and start pstart and I'm ready to roll. But each time I stick the USB stick in I get this error and have to recopy the xml file back.

I went over the XML file using dreamweaver as my editor and first ran the internal checker for mistakes - it found none. I then went through the file collapsing complete files tags one at a time to make sure everything was terminated correctly - everything was fine.

So is there a size limit or something?

That's a BIG file! All I can say is that I haven't hit a limit, but I'm only at 530 lines and 17k. You can fill out the form here at Pegtop support to see what they have to say.

A point worth noting is that there is a xconfig file backup built into the program. Just go to Setup\Backup Settings. I keep several versions named by date of backup, then copy them off to an alternate storage. I had to start from scratch after a corruption once and will never do that again!

I filled out a support request. I'll check out the backup settings.

Thanks.
