| OK, I took the plunge and bought one. It is amazing. I got the Slingbox AV. Hooked it up to my digital cable and wireless network, and now I can watch TV anywhere I can get a wireless signal. I actually took my laptop to work and watched the news while I was working on schedules. My place of work is heavily firewalled but also offers free internet access to the public. I have an HP tx 1000 that travels well in my purse. I am liking this thing. You can also sling your TV to your mobile phone and pda but I haven't gone there yet. I am mainly looking forward to going to the beach this summer and taking my HBO with me. It's really cool. Worked right out of the box, too.

| Though I do not own a Slingbox, my first demonstration of its capabilities was quite fascinating. A friend pulled out his cell phone, called his house and started viewing a baseball game being broadcast from his satellite dish. He was 300 miles away from home. How cool. He said that he can watch TV on his phone from airports when he waits for his flight. |

| Great idea! Home videos of those beautiful grandkids I have, but the slingbox is only slinging the tv signal from a digital cable box. I share those wonderful videos on my IPOD. I would like to have attached the Slingbox to our DVR/cable box and could watch all the recorded shows as well, but the signal is -16 at that particular split and not strong enough. It is a good -2 at the other box in the basement so it was the best choice. Plus I don't hijack the family tv that way. By the way, speaking of videos, you tube is the greatest. I have quite a few posted of the smartest most beautiful.... (you know the grandma lingo)

| I'm still trying to figure out how this really works. It's pretty mind boggling to understand but really cool to push buttons on an onscreen remote and actually change your tv channels at home. I'm also looking at the security factor. I'm really firewalled heavy so my laptop is the only one that accesses the box and no one can access my laptop. My network is wpa encrypted as well. Any words of wisdom out there on those issues are mighty appreciated.
