| Blazer - redirect to mobile websites? Why is it that even though some websites open fine on my desktop, when I open them in Blazer, it redirects to mobile version? Sometimes the mobile version is not at all related to the original
Example: try opening LA Times RSS in Blazer and it redirects to a NYC mobile news website!

| That is not a Blazer problem, but the websites problem. Blazer (I believe) registers itself as a mobile browser, so if a mobile version of a site is available, that is what you will get. |

| Is there a way to not have Blazer register as mobile, so as to fool those websites, so to speak?

| Sometimes this only happens at the site HomePage so you can try going to Google and searching for what you want 'deeper' in the site, then click on the link.
Also try going to the site through Skweezer and MobileLeap
If you get the page you want and wish to see the page in 'full' view then :
Skweezer: Go to the bottom of the page and you'll see 'Click here to view without Skweezer'
MobileLeap, delete mlvb.net/ from the front of the address and tap Go.
These ideas do not always work but worth a try
All the best, woz of oz |

| There is no way to change Blazers agent
Woz is correct, when he says that usually only the sites homepage will redirect. If you want to get the full version of a site, use NetFront, Opera Mini 4, or Picsel Browser, as they do not register themselves as mobiles (PB allows you to change it, and maybe NetFront too). |

Actually, I am accessing rss feeds using QuickNews. That works fine. The problem occurs when I try to open links to articles from inside QuickNews with Blazer -- I get redirected to some generic mobile.newsday website instead of to the specific articles that I want to read..

For this reason I use freereader? Www.freerangeinc.com - it shows the full articles inside the reader, no need to go to a browser, for free only allowed 10 feeds, I keep a backup - for the odd occasions of it not working. There is a new reader from top story but I have not tried it.

Can you tell me more?
1. Does it pre-fetch for offline reading, like AvantGo?
2. Is it as bloated as AvantGo?
3. Does it work full screen on TX or is it only for TREO square screens?
Thanks!

| freereader I do not know Avant Go
I only have a square treo screen - that is all i know
It does not prefetch, but one click of the 'update' command works quite quick. However delete all files in all feeds always gives me a crash, so i delete 1 feed at a time. It is a quick responsive reader, with good customer support.
Sometimes a file called Freerange_thumbs becomes bloated, then i delete it seperately.

| Plucker is 40000X better than Avant go (my opinion after using AvantGo software for 3 years)
It does RSS and anywebsite you want. The downloading is done via your computer, so you dont have to setup accounts and you can have as many feeds as you want.
Setting it up through sunrise (an alternative feed maker) and then through ftp download. Your download/sync speed takes under a min
I have 13 full webpages, 4 online commics, the 1src forums, and 30 rss feeds. its about 20mb that is dowloaded to the SD card.
Plucker is awsome
[Pwn] Avantgo [/Pwn]
Freereader too [Pwn] Freereader [/Pwn]
[Cheer] Go A.Pruss [/Whoot]

| I am sorry, but I just don't have time now to deal with Plucker and customized script writing (Sunrise or whatever).. I would rather pay someone a few bucks and get a ready-made app that actually fetches things for me without too much hacking....

| AvantGo is free, can also get RSS feeds, and you don't need the computer as it can be updated wireless via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or GPRS.
If you don't want to install AvantGo, you can use Blazer with http://m.avantgo.com you'll be prompted for your user and pass and you will see almost the same as you do in AvantGo, no offline view though unless you save each page you refreshed.
Regards,

| I got curious on this thread, and tried FreeRange, http://www.freerangeinc.com/ , and when I tried to register an account via a Bluetooth WAP connection, I got an error, anybody else have this issue? This app looks promising, and the free version alone, if I could get it to work, would be enough to make me purchase the full version (10+ feeds)...

| Figured out Workaround! I figured out the problem with QuickNews: there is a setting in the preferences: choose the Web application AND choose a compression method. For the web, I only have Blazer installed. For compression method, however, QuickNews gives you a lot of options. I tried using "google reader" for compression and: IT DOES NOT redirect me anymore! Hey, how about that!
