iSpin doesn't support backgrounds in the usual fashion, does it? They have to be built in to a theme, and iSpin is not that popular, so.... |

But I do get the point about shadows needing to different, depending on the background. I hadn't thought about hat.

| That is how it looks good on 32/24-bit, because they are transparent (background can be seen through the shadow that is more or less transparent depending on the desired effect). Now don't take what I said as 100% accurate, it is mostly just inspection and playing around with 24-bit graphics on the my confuser....um...computer |

| Isn't 16-bit graphics the limit for Palms?

| for the record... The registered version of iSpin completely supports custom backgrounds. I never use the built in ones.
However as you said, it's not popular. So do what you want

| icon transparency problem on PalmOS is not because of bitrate (16bit), as seen on dmitry's skinUI, and LaunchAnywhere, you can have the alpha channel to a certain degree.
Every icon has this alpha channel and it is used mostly for the shadows with a degradation in opacity. Now everybody is using this to make windows transparent ... fancyness.
In PalmOS you work with bitmaps, the transparency is set by masking the silouette of the figure using grayscale depending on the desired opacity rate, or defining one color on the image that will be transparent. This then makes it difficult to make this shadow effet on the icons because the transparent channel is reduced to one color.
There is still option tho, but only if the developers code this and with lots of hard work for skinners. By masking the bitmap, you can have differnt levels of transparency masked to a bitmap using the gray scale. This will mean that the skinner will need to define two bmp files. One with the image, the other with the grayscale for the transparency. Then delare both images and the level of opacity for each gray in the mask bmp. Who will like such a work, now icons arent created like that and dont need all this...
This effect can be used perfeclty for the shadow in icons giving them a better look on any give background.

| Just a quick hit, DIA landscape is done, and so is the Graffiti skin, tell me what you think
Oh, and the landscape icons look off center, but on a real device they actually aren't because of the Blackbordor, and black strip.

| Hey BrentDC, can you clue me in to where I might find the openmoko icons in .png form so I can make an icon pack for MegaLauncher?
Thanks in advance!

They are on OpenMoko Wikipedia page. You can get 32x32 48x48 or 128x128. I tried to find again, and seriously I couldn't But if you want, PM me your email address and I'll email you them (tell me what size you want!). |

| Here's a screenshot of what I've done with them in MegaLauncher so far. They are mixed with a few others but you get the idea.
