I need space!!!!

Hello...

Thanks to this forum I've found Google Maps! I installed it and went to access it only to find out that it requires 3 Megs of space to run! Unfortunately I only have 2.1 megs available!

I really do use every program currently on my device so deleting one/some of them really isn't an option I want to consider! I went through my applications using Info and in the list I found something called "Connection" which is 1189K. Does anyone know what this is or what it does? Can I delete it without affecting anything else on my unit? Can it possibly be moved to my Int. Media?

How about GetSpotz? It is huge also and runs in conjuntion with two other programs that takes up alot of space... AdditVault (835K) and MyTreoSync (311K). I've managed to get GetSportz to run using LinkStart which is simular to Power Run... it moves all the files to main memory when you open the program and back to the memory stick once you close the program... however it looks as if AdditVault and MyTreoSync have to remain in the main memory for GetSportz to function! Is it possible to move AdditVault and MyTreoSync to Int. Media and still have GetSportz function properly?

What about JAmerican's Media Launcher? Can it be moved to free up some of my current memory?

It's too bad ZLauncher can't be moved to either the memory stick or Int. Media! It takes up a whoppin' 1981K!!!! WOW!

Thanks,
GMan

Delete ZLauncher !

Standard Launcher = 0 Ko
Keyquick = 0 ko (you already have it, no ?)
PetitLaunch = 41 Ko

=> you can free 1940 Ko, not bad.

Hey Antoinepierre...

Thanks for your response!

While I realize that deleting ZLauncher is an option I'd prefer to keep it installed. I've grown accustomed to how it operates and what it can do.

Unfortunately I do not have Keyquick nor am I familiar with what it or PetiLaunch can do. Is PetiLaunch comparable to ZLauncher in capabilities?

I suppose I'll have to do some investigating to find out what both of these programs can do and if they will be sufficient for my needs!

Thanks Again Antoinepierre... time for me to search "The Net"!

We really need a better idea of what all you run to advise you on what might move. What othrr major applications are you running aside from what you've mentioned?

No need to go that far, just search in my signature.

Golalmo : powerrun is good but aliasExt is not bad and aliasExt is already in your UX.

The problem with AliasExt is that it does not seem to sync Program data correctly - i.e. the documents created with an app in AliasExt do not seem to transfer at HotSync which is why I use PowerRun (which does). In my experience anyway...

Please someone provides me with a valid link for Power Run & proper install steps ... last time I ran it on my UX ( 2 years ago more or less ) it screwed the hell out of it!

You are may be right, I don't use AliasExt for app which need to be sync.

When you speak of "documents", do you mean doctogo ?

Hey Golalmo...

Thanks for the advice! Problem is I already have Power Run and LinkStart installed. I installed both because I wanted to compare them to each other... so far they are pretty much the same! I do prefer either of these programs over TealAlias! Believe me when I tell you that I have a significant amount of programs running in each!

I have a lot... A whole lot... of programs on my device. I can honestly say that... it you mention it.... I have it... or had it!

I have programs like Ultrasoft Money and eWallet which need to remain in RAM in order for the conduits to work properly! Same with DayNotz, Tiny Stocks and 4cast! Programs like 2PlayMe won't function fully if used with Power Run or LinkStart... the alarms won't work! Luckily Documents-To-Go offered DataViz which allows you to move most of it to the memory stick... I wish UltraSoft Money and eWallet did the same! I also managed to move Pocket Tunes to the Memory Stick

TealLock and TealAlias also must remain in RAM to function!

I'm still at loss identifying what "connections" is... it is taking up 1189K of space. ZLauncher is taking 1982K! These two applications alone account for a major portion of my RAM! Combined with TealLoock, TealAlias, Ultrasoft Money, DayNotz, eWallet and JAmerican's Media Launcher I really don't have too much space left.... 2M!!!!!

Any suggestions??????

I use Launcher X. Launcher X addresses that issue with Shortcuts. You can move an app from RAM to a card, then create a shortcut to it. The shortcut is a tiny (3-5K) stup program in RAM, that points to the app on the card. Hotsync sees the shortcut, and things work as expected.

Launcher X takes 466K here.

Move it to the card, and see what breaks.

I believe ZLauncher supports shortcuts. I don't know offhand whether they can behave as LX shortcuts do, and allow you to sync apps on a card. If they can, you might look into that.

i would say delete the "connection" file (backup first).
also if you surf, try delete cache from your browser.

Hey Deccunney & Golalmo...

Thanks for your suggestions! I had really considered trying what you sugeested Deccunney> I don't suppose it'll harm anything if I do what you mentioned as long as I perform a "backup" of my files as Golalmo suggested so that I can replace them if needed!

Thank guys... I'll let you know if I wasa successful in gaining 1189k of space without any side effects!

Hey...

Could the "Connections" application/program... whatever it is... that's taking up 1189K of precious space in my RAM be associated with NetFront 3.1? I tried installing it a couple of months ago and couldn't get it to work correctly on my unit so I went back to the "old" NetFront 3.0.

I'm really hesitant in deleting it because I can't seem to locate it in Ram using either Clie Files or FileZ. For your information its version number is: v.4.5.1. I also want to mention that I do have another file listed with the same exact name however its version is: v.4.5 and when I select size it doesn't show in the list... it as if it might be consumed with the 4.5.1 version.

If I delete this and something doesn't function properly will I be able to restore my device to its orginal state using BackupMan as I have done in the past? For safety measures I also would doo the "power saver" backup method!

Please advice me on how to proceed!

GMan
