| dear guysoft ;
may be something like resseting the bios in PC's exist with clie ?
This is my history ;
I bought used "sony clie nx80v" and it has a little problem in camera (it was noisy). I decide to open and fix it and I foolishly (of course with care) opend it but
after opening back cover and seeing it (very complicated and I scared!) and close it again. Of course First of all disconnected the battery and one time (when cover removed) I connected battery and it powered on ; but after that it never turned on again. Wen I putting it on cardle it charging (orange light on) and after some hours orange light goes off. But by pressing power button it not turn on.
All story from buying and this event is only 2 days! And I am very sad! Can you know somebody to help me about what happened ? and may be I can fix it ? I am from IRAN and there is no service center for clie in my country.
thanks a lot for quick response |

I know how you feel. I am in Israel and sony don't officially support clies here nether. They are in fact, a real pain when it comes to anything.
I can just tell you the obvious: make sure you didn't connect the battary the wrong way round, do a hard reset (press the reset button under the memory stick while holding the power button down), and hope it works.
Is there no some kind of life?

| hello
it means nothing worked and confusing!
but would you note to this points : (may be you have or you heared common experince)
- I have checked power button and it function is ok. (also I have checked battery connector and I think it is ok too)
- About LED; it only comes up on only when putting it on cradle.
- when I opened it I disconnected battery and once I connect battery (when case is open) and it powered on but I disconnect battery again. And after that it never turned on again.
- if I understand it! I think problem is something like that; i.e. something like error in BIOS in PC's .
- battery voltage is never over 5 V (mostly ~4) ; (when battery disconnected); I don't know may it must be over 5 or (just 5.2) to power it up ?
- there is empty connector with ~5 pin on the corner of mainboard. May be that is something for flashing memory or resetting it ? (something like resetting BIOS).
- I also checked all boards accurately and I didn't find any physical damage in electronic elements.
- finally you know were is the nearest sony service center for repairing it ? where repairing it is easy and not too expensive ?
- sorry for two much questions!! |

I just want to make sure - when i was talking about the power button i wasn't asking if it worked, I was talking about a 'hard reset'. Do you know what this is?

| I need to replace the slide power switch on my NX80. I would love to find out if it is replaceable. The old one broke off and I haven't taken it apart to look.
